I've found that a lighter pan (griddle or fry pan) without a plate in the bottom will not allow you to stir something while not holding onto the handle as you could with an element stove top.

Hi tazmachine69!
That is a great question! For this glass-top range you are not required to use a particular type of pot or pan for cooking. However, we do recommend you use a lighter pot or pan such as aluminum. The cooktop is glass, so if using a heavy pot or pan like cast iron and it slips and hits the glass it could cause the cooktop to shatter. The owner’s manual for this range has further details as to the care for the cooktop during cleaning. I have listed some of that material below in regards to cookware. Sliding aluminum or copper clad bottom pans on the cooktop can cause metal markings on the cooktop surface. These marks should be removed immediately after the cooktop has cooled using the cooktop cleaning cream. Metal marks can become permanent if not removed prior to future use. Cookware (cast iron, metal, ceramic or glass) with rough or dirty bottoms can mark or scratch the cooktop surface. We recommend not sliding anything metal or glass across the cooktop. Also, do not use cookware with dirt or dirt build up on bottom; replace with clean cookware before using.
Should you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask again using this website’s forum.

Not for this stove, nor really for any stove. You'd have to gut the whole thing, so it would not be cost-effective.

The "Self Cleaning" feature is awful. The element burns too hot and will burn holes through the bottom floor plate. Best to just clean it by hand the old fashioned way or you will be replacing the bottom. If you research the self clean feature you will see many people having the same problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from top lost lustre immediately Have had this for 2 weeks and it looks 10 years old.
Date published: 2016-08-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The stove is still fairly new to us, but a great basic stove for our needs as we don't do a lot of cooking. The cooktop design with the white circles took some getting used to as our old cooktop stove did not have those. Cleaning the cooktop is as easy as the old one and for those customers not use to a cooktop, it will show every bit of dust, so an occasional quick wiping is all it needs if you are a fanatic about dust. The cooktop cleaner (sold at most hardware stores) is a "must keep" item in the house with the special pads. The oven temp seems right on, but haven't really baked too much yet so that is hard to rate. As upsetting as it was for us to have to replace our 8 yr old stove just because of a failed control panel (different brand) that they no longer made, we are happy with our first ever Frigidaire purchase so far.
