Can I use a microwave that is installed within my cabinet over my single oven and move it over my stovetop

I now have a single oven installed within my kitchen cabinet. The microwave is installed on top of the oven. I would like to purchase a double oven and use my existing microwave over my stovetop. Is this doable? I already have 30" Frigidaire oven and microwave and will probably replace with same brand.

Answer:
You should only install a microwave over a stovetop if it is designed for that, i.e., an "over-the-range" microwave. These microwaves come equipped with special mounting holes, bolts, screws, and brackets (not to mention a ventilation system for your stovetop).

Can you use the timer and the microwave at the same time?

This question is from 30 in. W 1.7 cu. ft. Over the Range Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking-DISCONTINUED
November 29, 2013
I see some older comments mentioning that the timer cannot run while the microwave is running. Is this still true? Since the comments are a little older, I am hoping that this functionality has since been added.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good feature to price value This product has great features for the price paid but like all other products available, the quality is lower than the one it replaced. Only owned it month now and hoping it will last many years like the one it replaced. April 30, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Installation bracket not wide enough I had installed the wrong size cabinet so delivery personnel could not install microwave. Once I changed out overhead cabinet, I proceeded to install the microwave. The bracket was not wide enough to wrap around the ends of the microwave which prevented the microwave from completely seating onto the brackets and therefore the screw holes do not line up. I've had it for about six weeks and no problems yet. Still need to call HD and have $60 installation fee refunded since I did the work myself :-) I would not recommend unless manufacturer made the bracket wide enough for the unit. February 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by visually appealing and efficient looked for a long time for an over the range micro to replace our old GE one which wasn't too big overall so it would fit within the cabinet area. This one is a good size, has a nice appearance (quality look to the finishes) and is definitely quieter than our old one. There are a lot of functions (like sensor cook) that I really don't see a use for, but I guess some people like more "bells and whistles". The only feature it lacks, which I really miss, is night light function. Finish is easy to clean. Our old micro was hung using 4 bolts thru bottom of overhead cabinet, this one includes a metal rail for the back edge (goes on wall behind the unit) which I liked because it seemed a more secure method of hanging in conjunction with those cabinet attachments. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sharp-looking product! The Frigidaire Gallery microwave is a sharp-looking product! I doubt we'll use the wire rack inside because we use our microwave mostly for reheating rather than cooking. The popcorn button leaves too many kernels in the bag, so you probably should add 10-15 seconds to the time. Also, there is a pause after pressing the Quick Start buttons that took some getting used to. Otherwise, we really like this product. April 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Product Purchased in May of 2011. Microwave went out (load noise and not heating), but was within the warrenty timeline. The micorwave was replaced without an issue, but I needed to conduct the re-install myself. The microwave is now making the same noise and is not heating, and no longer under warrenty. 2 microwaves in 2.5 years. I would not recommend this product. November 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MicrowaveHood I replaced a microwave/hood combination that still worked, but the door handle had come apart, and repairmen have told us it would be cheaper to replace the entire appliance.( I hear that too often these days, indicating craftsmanship has gone by the wayside,) This new microwave, hood seems to do what the other one did. The light inside is not as bright, but I don't use that component to cook. December 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Microwave Oven You have to read the manual, since there is no easy way to put the sensors. I thought that by hitting the auto sensor button, this $300+ microwave would be able to sense what was inside (I know, it's silly, but that's what I thought), but you need to know what the corresponding number for the type of food you have inside, and it doesn't scroll the choices, you have to know what the number is by reading the manual. January 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by it is really too early to tell Having just received the microwave 2 days ago all I can say is that it has a lot of features that I have not had time to use. I do like to finish, which is a smug proof stainless steel. That is the great part so far. April 19, 2014
