Answer:
Bucket has an inverted handle across the front of it that you gently pull out.
Manual suggests first pushing lightly on the sides first to dislodge the bucket fro the unit and then pulling the bucket on out.

Summers yield high humidity here and air conditioners really do not remove it. High humidity is tough on arthritic bones and so, does this make sense or is the unit for basements and garages?

This would work but is probably more than you need. It works for our 2500 sq. ft. condo on the Gulf coast. We have A/C that handles the humidity in the summer, but in the spring when it wasn't running we relied on this dehumidifer. I think they have a 30-pint version. Maybe you're better off with this large unit and not having to empty as often? Would be pretty loud in your smaller space.

Answer:
There is a short slightly curved plastic tube that comes out of the unit with a screw on cap.
Assume the connection is the same as the connection for any hose. Appears to be the width of any standard hose but have not tried it myself . No extended tubing comes with the unit. Threads at the end of the tubing look the same as a hose connection.

No, the tubing/hose is not included. I consulted with a Home Depot employee and we bought a washing machine hose to connect to the back. It was under $10 and works beautifully. The washing machine hose is black and ugly; if you want a white hose you will probably have to buy a different type of hose (same diameter) plus a connector gadget to make it thread properly. No. You have to get a regular garden hose....depending on what length you need. It isn't provided. It does have a place to screw the hose in. Just a standard size. I still had my hose from my last dehumidifier. It works really well, by the way!!!

(Your retailer may offer an optional dehumidifier drain hose for purchase.) It needs to be 1/2" (12.7 mm) or larger. Alternatively, you may use a garden hose (see page 8 of the owner's manual). You will need to ensure there are no kinks or elevations in the hose and a nearby drain to where water can be discharged. If you choose to use the bucket, the drain cap must be screwed securely to prevent leakage. We hope you find this answer useful, Ken. Please feel free to reconnect if you have further questions! Perhaps there's no moisture in the air and thats why it stopped collecting water. With me, it drips like crazy because the room has a lot of moisture & dampness. We empty out on a daily basis.

Without knowing the dimensions of where you have this installed, it is hard to be sure of any recommendations. I would suggest that you have at least 18" of unobstructed exhaust fan clearance.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good machine but unnecessary vibration noise This machine replaces the earlier model of the same size which lasted six years before the bearings wore out and the vibration noise became intolerable. However, I would recommend this machine for basement use only due to the vibration noise even when new from the plastic housing and handle which can be stopped only by pressing on the housing. I'd be willing to pay $100 more for a really quiet machine. Frigidaire needs to find a way to prevent this noise with rubber mounts and/or perhaps insulation. Their fridges don't make this kind of noise, so why should the dehumidifier? July 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced our old Nordic dehumidifer The unit is more quiet than our old (1980's) unit. It has a calibrated digital humidity adjustment and it is +/- 7% accurate (usually over drys the air relative to setting). We monitor this independently with humidity meter. The new unit also appears to use more electric than the old system. We do run the new system via a hose, and the old system was a bucket fill approach. So, there may be more off time when we failed to empty the bucket immediately when full. But $10 more for this first month verses last June 2015 seem a bit costly. Have to give it a few months to be sure. I like the control features and the reusable air filter...a big enhancement to the old style. Our unit is in the basement. It does a great job. We keep it set at 65%; but our monitor show 58-61% range. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple and effective. This has been in use in a stored motorhome nearly one month and has performed flawlessly. With the unit running in continuous mode, it nearly filled the reservoir every day for more than a week as it drew stale, moist air out. I didn't check it one day and the next day the unit was full and the auto-off feature shut it down just as designed. Being in the humid Gulf Coast region, I leave the unit on 24/7 and set at 50% and it needs emptying every 3-4 days. It's amazing the difference it has made. Cabinet doors that were swollen and stuck now open and close with ease. Drawers slide without binging. This unit is worth every penny! June 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very quiet. I had an old dehumidifier that was still doing a good job, but I wanted an Energy Star rated one. Was also hoping for a quieter one. I looked online for a long time before deciding. This dehumidifier was a good price for the size & features that I wanted. Aso many good reviews. I've had it less tha 3 weeks, but am very pleased so far. It's very Quiet, it has 2 fan speeds, it can be run constantly or at a humidity level you choose, you have the choice of emptying the container manually with easy to carry handle (it restarts automatically to your settings) or connecting a hose. it reminds you to check & reset the filter. Hopefully, this excellent performance will continue. June 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Unit I bought this unit to dehumidify a newly built house that had been open to the elements for a damp spring and early summer. It took some time, but this unit is a workhorse and all of the contents of the house and structure itself dried out nicely over a could weeks. The ability to change quickly between contain collection and direct discharge via a hose if very convenient! July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really Does the Job I had an earlier version of this model that I ran into the ground because we have a half-finished basement. I replaced it with the same item, plus the updates. This model is quieter than the old one, but is equally easy to move, empty, and maintain. I expect to get several years of reliable service out of this one just like its predecessor. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Made my life better! Living in humid Florida even with A/C the air in my home would often feel "heavy" so thought I would give this a try. Put it in my bedroom and to my amazement it had to be emptied twice in the first day! My breathing was much improved so bought three more as my home is large and soon discovered the huge difference it made. Health wise it's awesome plus it's made cleaning easier, no occasional mildew or sticky feeling on fabrics. As for the units, they are quiet, easy to empty and clean filter. I'm even thinking I should get one more. June 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Performance We have had several dehumidifiers in the years past and never have I had one as great as this. The AC ducts would always drip from condensation with the others but this Frigidaire keeps every thing bone dry. I couldn't be happier. July 13, 2016
