Customer Questions & Answers

Does this unit have an "energy save" mode or similar?

Hi, Does this have an "energy save" mode or similar that shuts off the fan when the compressor turns off? (Most window units have this.) Thanks
Asked by: ChillinTheBasement
Frigidaire is correct. Kaye is incorrect on this model bing an "energy save" capable portable a/c. To be an energy saver model, the blower motor that circulates the cooled air must turn off after the compressor cycles off. The fan on this model will continuously operate as long as you have the system turned on. However, you can select the auto fan mode and the fan speeds will automatically adjust between the three speeds available during operation, dependant on heat load in the room. Again, the only fan that cycles off is the condenser fan that discharges the warm air to the outdoors through the vent hose. The indoor fan runs continously.

Does this unit require venting to the outside ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. It comes with a window attachment that will fit under (if the window raises) or to the side (if the window opens from side to side).

What is the amperage it uses? Does it require its own dedicated circuit?

Asked by: Josh
Uncertain of the amps useage; but no, it does not require its own dedicated circuit. This is a small 750 sq ft inside air conditioner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Global warming has nothing on me. I did not know how much humidity was in the air until I saw how much water my little Frigidaire® AC removed from my apartment. “It’s Hot BUT It’s A Dry Heat”. Remove some moisture from the room and it becomes another pleasant day. I didn’t know how cool it could get with just a portable 7000 BTU AC.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works very well! Works very well in our small house. Was a bit tricky getting the exhaust hose routed thru the only window available. Is not a standard window so took some fabricating to seal the window. Other than that, is a great product and really made a difference in the temperature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does the job While the room I use it in is on the larger side, it still cools well. After reading several awful reviews I couldn't help but to attempt to do this unit some justice. I am currently using the unit in a space around 270 sq. ft. It doesn't get SUPER cold but it's definitely worth it. As for the reviews for needing a garden hose, I thought that too after reading the instructions. However, the unit comes with a short plastic hose you can attach to the back to drain the water from the unit. you just detach the rubber plug from unit and stick the hose in it's place. So simple. In more humid conditions you would drain the water more frequently ( I drain water maybe once every other day as a precaution) Just make sure you stick the plug back in the unit afterwards so that it doesn't leak everywhere.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Requires garden hose for drainage! What the description DOESN'T say: for draining, you need to hook up your OWN GARDEN HOSE to the back, to drain water "into a drain that is lower than the unit." Unless you are using this in your basement, how is that possible in any other room? With the portable AC I owned a few years ago, you opened the place where water collected and emptied it. Even if for some strange reason you have a floor drain in your living room or bedroom, who'd care about the "sleek design" if you have to contend with a hose on the floor?? I'm returning this unused.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice little air conditioner! The air conditioner was a little bit of a pain in the rear to assemble, but once it's together it looks nice, runs pretty quietly, and cools the room it's in significantly. I've been running it frequently for over a month and haven't had to empty the basin of condensation yet! I like that the fan continues running when set to "auto" instead of the unit cycling off completely between cooling periods. It makes the noise less intrusive, since the compressor runs with barely any more noise than the fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product meets our needs This a/c works great. We have had no problems with it as of yet. The remote feature is great. The room is 12x13 and it cools the room quit well. Installation was a little difficult . We have old windows and the vent bracket does not fit properly. There is about 8 inches of the window that is not covered. The vent bracket is limited because of the hole it needs for the vent hose. I had to tape up the opening. It is also pretty loud. It sounds like a small airplane running. Something to get use to. It is also pretty heavy if it has to go up or down stairs. I have a 11000 BTU that is half the size..
