Customer Questions & Answers

How much area will it cover? What does "continuos drain operation" mean?

It says continuous drain operation. What does that mean if not attach a hose? How large an area will this cover. I have a basement 20' x 40' half of which is a ground plastic covered crawl space the rest about 6 1/2 ' high. Which size dehumidifier do you recommend. The hose will go to a macerating unit.
Asked by: Robert
My basement is 26 x 40. Continuous drain operation means u need a drain. Sooo the hose u hook to it drains the dehumidifier continuously.

70-Pint Dehumidifier is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2362.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dried out humid basement My house was built in the 1950's and the basement was always damp and musty. Placed the dehumidifier in the middle and set to 65%. Installed a rubber garden hose to bypass the onboard tank and drain directly to the floor drain. It has really helped to minimize the dampness and smell that was present before. Rated 4 out of 5 by from great drain Replacement for multiple previous dehumidifiers. Easy hook up to drain. Hoping for more longevity than seen with previous units. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised. We've had this for about three months and it works better than any other dehumidifier we've owned. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I expected and more! Very, very happy with this dehumidifier I bought this past July for our basement. Old one from the 1960s (!!) had finally died and really wanted to replace with something that would do as good a job as this old warhorse did. The Frididaire FAD704DWD met our needs perfectly, is quieter than our old appliance & I have to empty it less because of it's wonderful 70 pint water tank. Love all the various settings (hi/lo fan; range of dehumidifying power) and that we can place it against the wall and it's out of the way. Basement is drier than ever -- would definitely buy this one again and recommend to friends [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet and powerful I've had the unit for about two months. It does an excellent job of pulling A LOT of moisture out of the air in a short amount of time. It is also fairly quiet which is nice because I work from home in a basement office and the dehumidifier is right outside the door. The only complaint I have is with the humidity setting. If I set it at 50% it seems to cycle on and off as it should (in fact now that the weather has turned much colder the unit is almost never on). But if I turn it down to 45% the fan runs almost constantly and the compressor can be heard cycling on and off frequently. I'm not sure why it does this. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Archives I bought this dehumidifier a couple months ago or so to run nonstop in my archives in south Louisiana (where in our semitropical climate it's very humid). This Frigidaire has done an excellent job, and I can clearly see the impact it's having on the archives' environment, because I monitor the room's relative humidity using a hygrometer. Moreover, I can see a constant trickle of water from the garden hose I hooked up to the dehumidifier (to allow the water to empty directly outside the building). I can recommend this product based on my experience with it thus far. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quiet unit I purchased this unit new from Amazon about a month ago. It has performed well and quietly. It's not dead silent, but since it is in the basement its noise level is fine. I like how the unit cycles on and off. I have some observations: 1) The "Clean Filter" light seems to come on after some period of runtime even though the filter is perfectly clean. 2) I can't tell any difference between the fan settings of low and high as far as air volume or noise. 3) I find it a little clunky to have to first remove the collection bin in order to remove and clean the filter. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stopped Working After 4 Months Purchased this one after I received a refund for the FFAD7033R1 that stopped working a few months after purchased due to a F0 code. Decided to go back to Frigidaire with purchasing this unit because I already have another one. I purchased this model on Jun 20, 2016 and it frosted up several times in October (4 months later). Called customer service and was issued another refund. Guess the quality is not there with these dehumidifiers. The other FAD704DWD that I mentioned was purchased in 2015, and that one is still running fine (fingers crossed). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
