Would this be too strong for small room 150 sq ft room? 6,000 btu isn't cutting it

Would this be too strong for small room 150 sq ft room? It's in converted one and a half story house on the second floor. There seems to be very little insulation between the roof and the ceiling. It can get pretty hot up there. Right now I am trying the Frigidaire FFRE0633S1 6,000 btu window air conditioner (It came yesterday) but it can't seem to get it below 65 even with the temperature set at 60 on high cool and fan. I'm worried that if I go bigger it won't be able to get all the moisture out of the air. My old 10,000 btu cooled great but has mildew growing in it (hopefully not mold) and I get some on stuff in room. Would it get enough humidity out and keep the room cold as well? Oh, for Frigidaire: why can't I find this listed on your site? Is it too old? If so what is the warranty on it? A previous question asked you that and you gave a generic pdf link: see below. Is sealed system 3, 4, or 5 years warranted? Is there any real difference between this and Model FFRE0833S1 other then it is more energy efficient? Your appliance is covered by a limited two-year warranty and a limited 3-5 year warranty on the sealed system (the compressor, condenser, evaporator and tubing). For two years from your original date of purchase, Electrolux will pay all costs for repairi ng or replacing any parts of this appliance that prove to be defective in materials or workmanship when such appliance is installed, used and maintained in accordance with the prov ided instructions. From the third to the fifth year from your original purchase date, Electrolux will repair or replace any parts in the Seal ed Refrigeration System (compressor, condenser, evaporator and tub ing) that prove to be defective in materials or workmanship. In y ears 3-5, the consumer will be responsible for diagnostic, labor an d parts costs as well as any removal, transportation and reinstal lation expenses which are incurred during service on components other than those covered under the Sealed Refrigeration System 5-year warrant

A 6000 BTU air conditioner should be pleanty big for that room I have this 8000 BTU and my room is 168 square foot and it is too big it does not take humidity out of the room because the air gets to cold to fast and it is not a comfortable cool because of the dampness in the air.

can it be installed in a sliding window?

Asked by: hunter
There is a utube video of a simple way of putting in a window air conditioner that is simple and does not require a ladder or lots of muscle. All it takes is a 2X2 a saw and a drill and the top of the window can be closed up with Plexiglas and sealed with weather stripping.

Does this unit have a fresh air vent control?

I see in the manual that some models allow you to open a vent to allow fresh air in when in fan only mode. You can close the vent for more efficient cooling. I don't see the slide control in the images.

I'll just start off by saying that I've had this unit for about 4 years now. It's stated that it will cool up to 350 sq. ft. I had mine in a location in my 850 sq. ft. apartment, that it's placement alone managed to cool off pretty much the entire apartment (except the bathroom - door kept closed). It's not particularly quiet (my excuse for the 4 star review), but nowadays, it's managing about the same cooling output on the first floor of my 1600 sq. ft. house that was built in 1877 with less than adequate insulation. Circulation and placement make all the difference in the world. I am very happy with this unit. If my windows upstairs were big enough (they aren't, unfortunately) I would certainly purchase another one or two more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Go with a different brand. Annoying & poorly designed. PROS: Affordable. Does the job well at keeping the room cool. Relatively easy installation. Simple features with remote control. Adjustable side curtains on each side (**but max. width is like 3.5 feet**). CONS: 1. The side curtains (dividers) weren't wide enough to fit my window (the ac unit was a gift). 2. EXTREMELY ANNOYING SOUND from fan blade as if it's scraping the unit's cheap styrofoam insulation. 3. Does not operate on/off automatically to maintain a steady temperature. The noisy scraping fan has to run constantly in order to do this which drives me up the wall! 4. Remote has to be pointed directly level and facing the interface 5. Econ mode is a joke. It turns on for literally 20 seconds and then cuts off for half an hour. By far this product's most useless feature. 6. Sleep mode gradually increases the temperature setting after like 30 minutes, which, again, makes no sense at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loudest Airconditioner ever, dont buy it!! I don't normally leave any comments, but this one, I want to warn a customer like me to prevent a mistake buying this one. This is the loudest air conditioner by far, it is so loud as if airplane taking off, can't hear anything when we talk, not to imagine sleep at night with this on. I bought a LG one with same 8000 BTU to my other room, it is quite and strong. so buy another brand don't buy this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 8000 btu . Frigidaire It has had 2 summers with 90+ heat and done extremely well. No problems its fairly quiet when the compressor cuts on. Efficient and powerful but not for more than 350+ sq ft. Love it blows cold air

Rated 3 out of 5 by from full model number is not listed I bought this upon a recommendation from Frigidaire. They suggested this particular model Frigidaire Model # FFRA0822R1 as it has a remote with a digital thermometer built in. The air conditioner sets the temperature in the room by reading what the temperature is wherever you place the remote (far side of warm room). I was excited to find it here. When it arrived at home I opened the box only to find a standard remote. I called Frigidaire and was told to look closely at model number. If the last digit ended in 0 it was a base model. If it ended in 1 then you get a fancy remote. The model on my air conditioner had a 0 tacked onto the end. so it is really a Frigidaire Model # FFRA0822R10 not Frigidaire Model # FFRA0822R1 This website page still lists it as FFRA0822R1 and there is no picture of the remote. I am writing this to help any others who are looking for that specific model, look elsewhere... Mine went back to Home Depot, it didn't even make it out of the box. so sad.
