Water level in tub

This question is from High-Efficiency 3.8 cu. ft. Top Load Washer and 5.5 cu. ft. Electric Dryer in White

I have not used a HE washer before. Is the tub supposed to fill with water? The water level in mine does not cover the clothes in the washer. They are very wet and seem to come out clean but I'm not sure if something is wrong. I ran a wash cycle without any clothes, empty, and it filled to about 3/4 of the tub on the high water level setting.

Answer:
The water level is based on the amount of clothing articles you place in the tub. It has some kind of sensor that determines the water level. My clothes always come out clean.

Answer:
Hello Glojul! The washer is not going to fill up with water due to being a high efficiency model. There is a sensor located within the washer to fill it up based off the amount of clothing inside of it. Hopefully this information is helpful to you. Do not hesitate to contact us directly or via the Q&A forum on this website. –Thanks!-

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy! Horrible! We dislike how loud it is, lots of soap residue, takes a long time for a load, at times clothes are still dripping wet, sometimes wadded up and so wrinkled. The water levels are not consistent with the laundry load. Just ruined a new set of sheets that were caught under the impeller/agitator, had to have a repairman to get it out...has happened and ruined items before. So frustrating...absolutely do not like it at all! We spent a lot on this model...so disappointed! August 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DONT BUY.. Repair man just left. He informed me that the spots on my clothes were coming from the fact that this unit only fills tub with 9in of water, regardless of the load size. Whats the purpose of buying a unit 3.8cu in if I can only use 1/3 of size capacity to efficiently clean my clothes? Dont use liquid soap, i.e., TIDE on cold cycle and expect your clothes to be cleaned, without blue stains. Water has to be 78 degrees to dissolve detergent. Hope this helped someone as I wished I would have read reviews before purchasing. Not a good washer at all. July 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as Expected The price was right and it does an excellent job cleaning the clothes. July 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buy a GE Unitized W/D...not this. I returned this unit after 6 months and 2 major repairs. I am grateful to Home Depot for assisting me with the return as Frigidaire insisted that since it could be repaired (it needed an entire new drum!) they would not replace the unit .They refused to have it air freighted to Hawaii...meaning I would have to wait 6-8 weeks to have it ocean shipped and them wait again for it to be scheduled for installation. Their solution was to extend the warranty another 6 months on the machine. After 3 months, the spin cycle would not spin the water all the way out and this had to be fixed. Then with the entire drum breaking, I had had enough. It is only my husband and I in the household so we are not heavy users. Other issues...it takes forever to wash, you cannot tell if in fact the wash has even started, the dials are very confusing to use with some type of beep system, there is no separate spin or rinse cycle, and if any water is retained in the unit at all, it starts to smell. The only thing good about this machine was the dryer..it did work well...but the washer is a disaster. Please look at the GE unitized w/d. I have this now from Home Depot and I love it! Yes it costs a bit more but it is so worth it. July 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent machine but there is no timer My apartment has limited space so I had no choice but to buy a stacked washer and dryer. This model does the job well. My biggest complaint is that there's no timer so you don't know how long is left on your wash/drying. There doesn't seem to be a quick wash setting for light stained clothes either meaning I have to wait 90 minutes to complete a wash, even if it's just for socks. Overall the machine is simple to use and does what I need it to. August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Washer/Dryer Combo This was a replacement for a Frigidaire I purchased 15+ years ago. I am very happy that the new unit has stainless drums in both washer & dryer. August 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by First time buyer of a stackable unit. Now that I have used my washer/dryer for a few days these are the area that I was concerned about Read the operational manual for how to use the washer and in how to place clothes in the unit. Today I washed some jeans, sweatshirt and some lighter items. The wash took about 45-50 minutes and came out of the washer with most of moisture removed and the clothes dried in short order. If you fill the wash unit to its wash capacity it is going to take a long while to wash and as I found out, when the wash was done my clothes were still very wet. I an a single adult so I can work around specification to keep my laundry up. The wash will take much longer than drying as long as it spins moisture out during the rinse/spin cycle. April 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! I have had this unit for 2 month now. I love it!!! August 11, 2016
