This will need to go under the gutter helmet for installation.

It can be installed with a gutter helmet but it is a bear to do. You have to pull the lower gutter wire the length of the gutter with a signal line. Then weave the upper wire on the roof and form the lower loops and connect them to the lower gutter wire. You have to fish the lower wire out with a hook and attached the clips to the loop and the gutter wire and then push the loop around the outer corner of Read More

A heat cable would be the best thing to use in this situation. The roof Cable would not do anything for the pipes.

The Roof Cable will not get over 50 degrees. They are waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the product was relatively easy to install. the clips given for installation are a bit on the fl... the product was relatively easy to install. the clips given for installation are a bit on the flimsy side so I used clips from the Raychem heat cable system that was available to me from my brother in law. lay out an extremely accurate plan on how to place the cable on your roof on paper. literally lay it out to the exact foot. my plan, on paper, called for 159 feet and we used 159 and a half. the enclosed instructions are well worded and helpful. I used the cable for the first time this weekend and it worked as expected. in harsh winters my dreaded skylights develop ice dams. this product will eliminate them.

This is also fantastic for inserting inside of the pipes inside of the home in order to thaw the line. Add a little salt water with this and all lines are thawed in 48 hours.

I am hoping this installation will prevent an ice dam we got last winter, which caused the loss of two ceilings etc. Easy to install and fit onto the roof, seems to be of a good quality. Hope that this winter the investment proves worthwhile. Check out the manufactures web site for detailed instructions and measuring. Comes with a good manual ion how to install also.
