I have the problem with my gutter downspout end openings freezing after melted gutter snow refreezes. Does the extender prevent the water from freezing? Does the winter cold and snow damage the extenders?

They do roll up so as long as the metal spring is them is not worn out
they are 48 inches long when fully unrolled but subtract a few inches that will be on the downspout to see if it will fit in your area

I purchased 2 and installed as directed. I stood outside for several rain events to watch to see if they worked as advertised. Instead of unrolling, they remained generally half-way unrolled and pushed the rain out the connection to the downspout instead. I rechecked the installation directions, gave another pull on the zip tie that almost bent the downspout, and nothing changed. The Guarantee printed on the box: "This product is guaranteed to work properly for one year. If it doesn't, Frost King will replace it or refund the price to the original purchaser upon proof of purchase. In any case, our liability will be limited to the purchase price." Frost King (through their website) offered to send me more, but with rain now draining along my foundation I requested the purchase price refund and sent a copy of my HD receipt and the written guarantee from the box on October 25, 2016. On November 12, 2016 I requested acknowledgement of my October 25th email. Frost King has not responded. I wasted my time and money. Don't buy this product and don't plan on having Frost King stand behind any statements of Guarantee.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mine had no holes! Like the description says, the unit I purchased had no holes punched out of it. We had severe thunderstorms go through the same day that I installed this. When I looked out to see if it was working, I could see that it was completely full and water which was also escaping from where I attached it to the downspout. The next day, I went outside to check on it to see if it had rolled back up and to my surprise, it was still completely full of water! Not a single hole in the product for the water to drain out of. I had to stab it with a fork! I took it off and installed it inside my garbage can where it belongs.

This one however is so heavy and stiff that the force of the water coming down my downspout does not roll out this extender. This causes the water to back up in the gutters which is not good. I fear it will force water out of the gutter and onto the soffit area and cause to wood to eventually rot. Right now, when it rains, I am extending it and putting a brick on the end to help the water flow out. Please note my complaint and remedy this problem as this is a product I want to buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WORTHLESS! I cannot believe they can even sell this product. Does not work at all! Does not unroll so water just pours out where it is attached, no matter how tight you pull the ziptie. Very cheaply made. It began raining right after I installed it and it was a complete disaster! Not only does it have holes at the end to release the water if it did unroll but it has random holes down the length of the cheap flimsy tube. Did not work for 5 seconds despite following the instructions to the letter. Complete garbage! Don't waste your time or money. Zero stars!!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ehh - Not that great. I had high hopes for this based on others reviews, but it just doesn't work well for me. It takes a lot of pressure to force the tubing to rollout flat and dispense the water. For me I installed it as written on the package, but when it fills up with water - the tube doesn't rollout flat. Instead the water just leaks out over the top of the the tubing.
