Does this weather strip prevent bugs from crawling under the door?

Asked by: cspell7
It may prevent bugs crawling underneath providing the floor surface is completely flat, however over time the thin, low-grade plastic will likely bend away from the floor after repeated use.

Could you use this along door's length?

I have a patio door (not sliding. just regular metal single door) that has a noticeable gap along the side. I think my townhome wasnt made with the best labor or materials. anyway, i can see a noticeable gap along the length from top to bottom and and even seen some light. during the really cold days, a lot of air comes in along that part and not so muchh along the bottom. If I attempted to stick it that way would it work? I want to be able to close the gap but at the same time be able to enter and leave the door freely which i use daily to let my dogs out. (In past i have tried those foam sealer strips that u stick inside the crack or door jam and it made it impossible to for me to open or close the door. I just want something simple that will block the air yet let me able to open and close the door every day.)

Yes, you can actually cut this to the proper length with a pair of scissors.

E/O 1-1/2 in. x 36 in. White Self-Stick Door Sweep is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from total rubbish. The plastic snaps after 1 week of flexing back and forth along the bottom edge of... total rubbish. The plastic snaps after 1 week of flexing back and forth along the bottom edge of the door. if you want it set low enough to stop drafts, it has to be touching the floor slightly, this makes some friction which bends the plastic back and forth when the door moves. I installed 2 of these on 2 separate doors, and both snapped within a week. you get what you pay for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT ECONOMICAL PRODUCT I Purchased this product to apply to my older home's back door. I replaced the aged aluminum sweep with this questionable product but needless to say I was thoroughly impressed!!! I cleaned my painted door bottom of any debris, dirt, etc. and trimmed the sweep to my desired length (my backdoor only 32"). I proceeded to remove the adhesive and affix to the door. I must caution that the user must place this sweep precisely on the first attempt because of the adhesive's cementlike qualities will make any adjustment virtually impossible after applying. I am pleasantly pleased with this product and recommend it to any DIYer in need of an econommical fix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from performs as expected This product stated it worked best on metal doors. I used this on an interior painted wood door to close a gap between the door and the carpet. I cleaned the door surface before applying it to the door and it is still secured to the door even after a week's worth of constant opening - closing & dragging over burberry carpet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to install I use these to my bathroom.the self-stick strip glue is not good. Not for the long term

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't stick longer than a minute! My door is made of painted metal. When I first applied the strip I thought it was perfect, so easy. It seemed to adhere very well. Within a minute it was laying on the ground, wont stick at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be Prepared To Use Nails When Adhesive Feature Proves Unusable. The paper release liner on the self-stick strip stubbornly refused to separate from the adhesive rendering this feature useless. Note on packaging indicates the installation temperature should be between 40 - 90 F . I attempted to peel paper liner at 69F. It's Made in China, so a lack of quality consistency is predictable. It's cheap, but you could just as easily nail a strip of thin-gauge styrene plastic to the bottom of the door to obtain the same result.
