Answer:
The only time you would need to remove the door to replace the door bottom, would be if the current door bottom that is being replaced, is a snap-in or bottom nail-on that might be have been factory installed.

Where is the 1 3/4" height measured from? The bottom of the fins or the bottom of the back (inside) piece where it joins the bottom?

Thank you.

Answer:
The 1 3/4" is actually the width of the door bottom. The mounting flange is about 1" and the fins are another 1/2".

My gap underneath is like a quarter inch and this half inch makes it real hard to shut door. What can I do about that?

In these cases, it is better to use a door sweep instead of a door bottom.

Does this door bottom require drilling?

It appears there is at least one slot for adding a screw. Therefore, it seems the door will have to be drilled to keep the door stop in place? Is this assumption correct?

Will it stay in place without drilling a hole(s) in the door as I do not want to drill into the door?

Slid on my standard front entry steel door and was a very easy install. My main entry front door bottom clearly was leaving a gap big enough to create a noticeable draft. I got down and could see daylight through the bottom of the seal and threshold. I grabbed this from Home Depot (in white) and it created a tight seal. Based on the fact that it made my door more difficult to close, its easy to see that it made a tighter seal and it is very obvious that it closed up the draft space. Excellent tight fit and closed the gap that was causing my entryway to be cold. I only gave four stars because I installed it today and cannot speak to its longevity. Perhaps will update with more info after some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I have refinished three of my exterior doors. This product is a perfect fit for making sure my door bottoms are sealed from the elements. As an added fix, I used thin balsa shims to fill in the gaps between the door bottom and the inside of the weather strip after aligning and making the screw holes. Cut thin sheets of 36"x3" hobby balsa in half to make perfect shims.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tears quickly I've installed two of these door sweeps with almost identical failures. The first tore its two outermost fins in less than a year. The second was installed and double checked for height because I thought I installed the first one incorrectly. Everything checked out and the second one lasted less than 6 months with the outermost and third from the outermost fins tearing. Installation was simple and I didn't need to trim. The fins are pliable when warm but become very rigid in mild winter temperatures (30-40's). This issue isn't unique to Frost King products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap and cheerful This item does work, however two of the four rubbet draft excluders have broken off already. This could be due to installation done incorrectly, perhaps a little too low. This is not a heavy duty item that will last for years on a door that is used frequently. Better for a basement door that is only used occasionally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SEALS NICELY It was easy and quick to install. I only had to trim a very thin slice. The plastic teeth are pretty flexible so I can see how these might tear if they're sliding across rough surfaces but my main door opens across a large-tile floor so I don't expect to have them tear anytime soon. If they do, I will be back on here to update my post.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy Being vinyl it is easy to cut to size with decent scissors - this 36 inch door being 35 1/2 inches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and works well. With the age of the old door I couldn't find a factory swipe for it, so I tried this. Easy to install and no need to take the door off.
