I want to replace my threshold for my front entrance. The gap between the cement floor and the bottom of the door is 1 1/4 inches. Will this work.

I looked at the answer that Frost King gave to this question from another person, but it didn't make sense. They added 1 1/4 for the width, 3 - 3/4 and came up with 5 inches. I don't know how that applies to the height of the threshold.

Answer:
No. This threshold is designed to be within 7/8 +/- of the door. The distance you describe between your door and the concrete appears to be set-up for tile in between topped off by a threshold.

Answer:
Let's assume that 3/4" is the height of the threshold #however, since HD's descriptions are often unclear and incomplete, I would go measure it myself in the store#. Anyway, say it is 3/4". Then just cut a piece of wood or plywood the height you need to build up under the threshold and install the threshold on top of it. This is done very often.

Answer:
Yes you have to cut it to fit the door with either a hax saw or a jig saw. I'm not sure how to spell the hax saw but it is a hand saw that cuts metal. It has replacement blades. I used a jig saw and it cut the threshold like butter. Hand saw you will have to put a little more effort to cut it.

Answer:
When you look at it in the store it says on the package up to 3/4 of an inch. But read my review. I just posted it at Home Depot.com and it might take a few days but you have to read my review before purchasing it.

Answer:
The Vinyl Strip measures 1 3/4" so combined with the 3 and 3/4" Threshold it would measure 5 1/2". The industry standard is to put the Threshold measurement on the package.

Answer:
You will have to check with your local Home Depot store to find out if the will cut this threshold for you. They normally do not provide that service.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good purchase, product is clean, no defects, no complaints, delivered on time as promised very good purchase, fulfilled all expectations. highly recommend this product. November 3, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK, could be better. The product arrived slightly bent and both lengths that I bought had slight dings in the sides of the aluminum. So boxing for shipping 6' could have been done better. The slight bend straightened out. Getting the gasket on was very hard--no instrucs specific to that---so I think, though the gasket is on, it is not ultimately seated right. The gasket, in any case, sticks up too high. March 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice quality, easy to install We needed this item for a door that was not sealed properly aginst wind blower rain when closed. After installing - all is well, no more water leaks. December 31, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CAUTION!!! If you have aluminum french doors The picture of the threshold plate gives a misleading look at it. It is more flat then how you see it in the picture to make it a better quality threshold plate. I was cautious about it and was almost not even going to give it an option but when I got to the store it looked perfect but................ I have to give you the issue I had with my double French doors. My mothers house was built in 1995 and have had a problem with water getting in. This threshold was an ideal fix for the problem BUT when I installed it...it did not get to the bottom of the door. It was off about 1/8". So I cut a board 3/8" of an inch thick so the rubber on the threshold would sit at the bottom of the door and overall seal it. After I closed the door and then opened it back up IT PULLED THE ALUMINUM DOOR SKIN AWAY FROM THE FRENCH DOOR. These doors have a an aluminum skin with stirefoam in the top and bottom of the door with the glass in the middle. At the extreme bottom and top of the door is a small wood filler piece and also the sides of the door. Then it has stirefoam in between the glass of the door. Now it says up to 3/4 of an inch and if there's a smaller gap under the door you have the possibility of the threshold doing the same thing to your doors. Now I was only giving it about 1/4 of an inch for the rubber to meet the bottom of the door and this is my outcome. You have to be almost exact for it to work and probably if you have a solid wood French door it would work perfectly. The other two reviews had a 5 star rating and I wish I had a 5 star outcome. SO BE AWARE It was such a disappointment. May 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very sturdy excellent product is very sturdy and installs basically same as smaller thresholds January 8, 2013
