Frost King E/O Dual-vinyl Garage door weather strip. What is the best way to install? Masonry screws or adhesive?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you are going into brick or concrete you could use small Tapcon screws. I'd countersink the vinyl and use a flat head Tapcon and cover the blue head with a dab of white silicone caulk so they don't stand out. Adhesive like silicone caulk meant for PVC or exterior liquid nails would also work, but you'd need to have a way to hold in place until it cures. Doing it that way is more work to remove if you ever need to replace a damaged section of weatherseal. I prefer screws for that reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frost King Garage Door Weather Stripping This looks just like the Garage Door Weather Stripping that was used on my house originally. And it probably is. I had my house built in 1999. (17 years ago). And the weather stripping is still holding up. The reason that I am replacing it is at the very bottom of both sides, the Vinly that seals the air out has begun to loose its shape and is not tight against the door anymore. (Only the bottom 3"-4"). If that is my only complaint in 17 years, there is no complaint! This product worked great for the 1st 17 years and now that it has been replaced, I am sure that I will get another 17 years. Now... That's a good investment! I highly recommend this product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shrinks, Shrinks, Shrinks The Un-Amazing Disappearing Weather Strip I installed this weatherstrip prior to having my house painted so everything would get painted at the same time. Less than a week later it had shrunk and curled on the bottom so I cut the damaged section out and replaced it with a new piece of the proper length that I had left over. That lasted about another week before shrinking another inch at the bottom and slightly less at the top. It appears the sun affects it as the side of the door that is shaded had less shrinkage. This was temps in the 90's at most. I can't imagine what it would have done in the summer heat in 110's plus. This was a complete waste of time and effort to install as it had to be removed and returned for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I took down my old plain rubber weather strips from around my garage door in favor of these. Covers the large gaps I had between the door and the frame, AND it looks nice with the vinyl. Basically, it looks like I have nice molding going around my garage door. I recommend using an electric saw to cut; I started cutting with heavy duty scissors, and it started to crack.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy. Shrinks and warps in sun. To be clear, the rigid vinyl part is 2" wide, and the flap adds another inch. I purchased 7 of these to replace similar aged seals on my two garage doors (the flaps had become brittle). After a few weeks in the southern Californian sun, the seals started shrinking and warping, to the point where they were pulled off the nails. On a 7' length the shrinkage was more than an inch. Total waste of time, money and paint; have to find a better quality replacement and do the whole job again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage... This product is real cheep its only 5/16 thick, And the seal is very flimsy and about 7/8 long... Home Depo did tack it back, thank you... And as I was looking I did find the weather strip I was looking for at Home Depo..The good stuff is a 7/16 ths PVC board with a heavy seal that's almost an 1 1/4 long...
