Customer Questions & Answers

Would this work as extra cushion on top of baby mattress ? Her mattress is hard and I can't find anything else ?

Asked by: Mommytotwo16
Do not use this on a child's mattress! It is flammable. It is not designed to be used under, in, or around bedding. There is a reason why there are strict regulations on children's mattresses, bedding, pajama's, etc. Do not risk your child's life to save a few $$. How do you cut this foam?

Scissor? box cutter?
Asked by: doityourselfer
If this foam is actually polyurethane, using a "hot wire" cutter is probably not a good idea. If you are not careful and the hot wire burns the polyurethane, the resultant gases can be toxic. While I have not actually used one of the electric "carving knives," I would think that since you are slicing the foam, burning or melting the foam would not occur and the toxic gases would not be released. This method, in my opinion would be safer. Regards

2 in. Thick Multi-Purpose Foam is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat approved! Bought this to use on a homemade window perch for the cat. Much cheaper option than spending the $25 price for a store bought one. I cut the foam using a utility knife and then glued it to a piece of pine board, stapled a piece of scrap fabric to it, then mounted it to the wall with shelf brackets. As other reviewers have noted, the utility knife does make the cut edge jagged, but it didn't matter for this application. Read the Q&A section for tips on how to make clean cuts. I bought this in-store, and it was a bit yellowed around the edges, but it didn't matter for this application. The foam is thick and of good quality. I think it would make a good cushion for humans as well.

I had a hole in the foundation of my house that was allowing in a lot of cold air. The water pipe had frozen once before I got the foam in. Now the crawl space stays about 20 degrees above the outside temperature

This product was purchased simply to be cut up into small pieces and used on top of my kitchen cabinets, to raise up the various items I had placed on top of the cabinets as decorations. There was a crown molding around the tops of my cabinets so the items I placed up there sat down behind the molding and the view of them was partially blocked by the molding. I wanted something to set behind the molding to provide a platform to set the items on to make them visible, This worked fine and was easily cut with a utility or Xacto knife.
