I ask this because the picture shows nails connected to the side slots. On installation videos I have seen them with the nails so you just have to remove the nails as you go and they are the proper nail.
I have also seen bags of nails connected to each vent. There is no mention of nails in your description or specifications.

Answer:
They do NOT. I even brought it up to the managers... and they say -w e have never seen nails with those vents.
According to manufacturer, you MUST use their nails to securely attach the vents. So how shall I do it now?

The model that comes with the nails as in the picture is the snow country advanced. I get them locally at a roofing supply store. The have a slighter better in quality and include enough nails for the shingles that get nailed on too. The nails to be used can be hard to find.

Answer:
Not only did the vents in stock not have any nails attached they did not carry any ring shank nails at the recommended 3" lengths. Maybe some stores do but the one in Greenfield, IN didn't and they had no idea why..

I've used these on many houses, and really like them because the nails are not only included, but are snapped into slots on the top for easy access. No fumbling with bags or boxes of nails.

Answer:
Hello, GAF recommends that at least 1-3/4" or longer galvanized roofing nails be used and fastened through the pre-drilled nail holes in the vent. Please remember, nails must always penetrate through plywood decks or at least 3/4" into wood planks. If you have any additional questions, GAF's product and technical team can help. They can be reached at 877-GAF-ROOF (877-423-7663), Option 5.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good vent easy to install with the lines on the vent ,mine came with nails attached A+++++ August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great ventiliation on attic/roof No more roof vents sticking out or cut holes in roof all over place that look unsightly. No more rusted whirlie bird metal spinning vents that stop working over time. No more water leaks around roof vents. SAVE MONEY! no electric bill to run electric roof vents. Dropped house temperature 10-15 degrees last summer after installing these ridge cap vents, was able to stop running AC 50% or more of the time in August and September! Blend in very well with rest of roof on ridge, just nail ridge cap shingles on top of the vent system strip, and you never notice it looks like part of normal roof and no more vents sticking out all over the roof! November 13, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy install and looks great I installed these on my roof after replacing it recently and they work great! My upstairs bedroom (converted from an attic) is now 15 degrees cooler than it was before the vents were installed. the old roof had no vents and it made the decking boards extremely brittle. I'm hoping these will make it last for a long time. They blend in great with the roof and do a great job. May 25, 2011
