Product Overview

WeatherSide fiber cement siding is the one and only solution for replacing or repairing old asbestos siding shingles. It's available in a variety of sizes and shapes to match many of the old siding shingles installed over the last 60 years. Unlike some of the original siding shingles that it replaces, WeatherSide pre-primed siding shingles contain no asbestos. It's easy to install, after properly removing the old siding, simply nail the WeatherSide siding in place and paint. WeatherSide is even resistant to warping, denting, rotting, expansion/contraction and termite infiltration.

How thick is the siding? The siding I have now is about 1/8th of an inch and it would be nice for it to blend.

Asked by: Popeye
Not sure of the thickness because I am not where it was installed but it was an exact replacement for the old asbestos siding. Same design, thickness, ext.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy We moved a window on our mother's house and didn't think that we would be able to find replacements. Her house is more than 60 years old. My brother found these on the Home Depot website and they matched perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Siding revisited If you have old Asbestos siding and need to add or replace any siding, this new fiber cement siding is the product. It resembles the old time siding in appearance but contains no Asbestos yet still retains its fire proof nature and the pre-drilled holes make installation easier. It is the direct replacement for old siding if you want to maintain the same looks

I bought these to replace the asbestos shingles on an exterior wall that had to be redone. The best thing about these is they are a perfect match to what was up there. Looking at the finished repair you wouldn't know that these replacement shingles were used. Perfect just what I wanted. On the down side they are expensive. They are difficult to cut if you do not have whatever the proper tool is. I first tried my circular saw with a special blade which worked but was so dusty and horrible I switched to scribing with a utility knife and breaking them like cutting glass. This did work. I lost 1 pc out of 3 packs. The cut however is not really clean so it depends how exact you need to be. Also had to redrill these as the predrilled holes did not line with the old layup. I tried a number of drill bits the only one that works is one you would use to drill through glass. You will ruin any other bit in about 30 seconds. Overall good product will buy more for other work and replacing broken shingles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The one and only replacement for broken asbestos siding shingles Ideally they'd be offered in 27" length as well but these worked fine

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought this to match the existing siding on my house Most people buy this product to replace broken existing pieces, but I wanted to go over the old T-111 on 2 rooms that were added after the fact to match the asbestos siding on the rest of the house, which was a pretty big job. Once this is installed and painted, it looks just like the existing siding, which is great. Here are the cons that I ran into: The siding is pretty brittle, so you better be good with a hammer otherwise you'll be cracking this stuff left and right. The biggest problem was that the siding is slightly bigger than the existing siding, making it difficult to match lines straight across. I had to constantly drill holes in the top of the siding to line them up which made the installation take 3x longer. Maybe this issue was unique to my house, but it made it a pain regardless. Good product overall though.

My house was built in the 1950s, and I was afraid I would not be able to find anything to replace the damaged siding. These did the trick, although the pre-drilled holes for the nails are just a bit lower than those on the original shingles which requires some minor adjustment in placement. Overall, a good product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good This replacement siding worked great. Easy to cut with a fiber cement blade. I only gave it 4 stars because it wasn't an exact match. The wave was a reverse to my original siding and the pre-drilled holes were a little lower requiring me to use a masonry bit to drill through the original. Overall, it was much better than residing my whole house.
