Product Overview

WeatherSide fiber cement siding is the one and only solution for replacing or repairing old asbestos siding shingles. It's available in a variety of sizes and shapes to match many of the old siding shingles installed over the last 60 years. Unlike some of the original siding shingles that it replaces, WeatherSide pre-primed siding shingles contain no asbestos. It's easy to install, after properly removing the old siding, simply nail the WeatherSide siding in place and paint. WeatherSide is even resistant to warping, denting, rotting, expansion/contraction and termite infiltration.

How thick is the siding? The siding I have now is about 1/8th of an inch and it would be nice for it to blend.

Answer:
Best way is to rent (or purchase) a tile cutter designed for this purpose. Otherwise, set your Skill saw to 1/16 blade exposure and cut very slowly. You will still have to "tap" the shingle to break it.

Answer:
Dear Gary, we recommend using a GAF Shingle Cutter for rapid, efficient cutting, punching, and notching. A diamond blade saw may also be used. And, another method is scoring and snapping. For technical support, please call 877-GAF-ROOF (877-423-7663), Option 5. Our team is happy to help!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 102 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for repairs were tiles have been used They are good to repair a wall with them on it however the tiles crack easy. That's the way it is with cement tiles. August 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Weatherside Shingle Siding: Seems to do the job! Given 4 stars because while I am happy now, only time will tell if the product has the durability I seek. I will say that it was very nice to locate a product that could match up as a replacement for the existing shingles without wholesale replacement or complete change in the project's siding efforts. August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quality fine but forced to buy more than I needed I bought these cement board shingles to replace broken asbestos ones on my house. In the store, they had these with a straight bottom. I need ones w/ a curved bottom. The curved bottomed ones could be ordered via the website but I had to buy a whole package of them for over $100 when I only needed a few shingles. So the product is fine but the "value" stinks. They should stock these in the store or allow you to order less than a whole bundle. August 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent but Expensive Very similar to original but not exact, good enough to do a few repair panels. Just like the original it's super brittle and easy to brake. For what it costs I would want it to come reinforced with a mesh backing or woven with fiberglass strand to keep it from shattering to bits so easily. So if you crack a piece when installing you can still use just mend with epoxy or such. ARE YOU LISTENING GAF, contact me to further develop this product to be a too quality product without flaws. Ordered 4 bundles so needed to be shipped by freight and could not be easily delivered to residential area. So I had to pick up at the terminal which was convenient for me just couldn't take advantage of the free delivery. Also was not impressed with home depot customer service in the store, when I saw this online I went to a Brick and mortar store to see if they could order for me and pick up there later. No help and just dismissed me to go home and order it my self. Would be easier to order and pay for in store then come pick up for some. Just surprised it was not an option. August 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shingles worked well. Shingles were hard to cut and install at first, but with practice and a little patience I was able to accomplish my project. I would recommend the cement backer board scoring tool (available online or in store in flooring dept.) for making needed cuts in shingles for smaller projects. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Match These shingles are a perfect match---perfect--to my asbestos siding. I desperately needed these to replace shingles that were cracked or broken during a repair to an exterior wall, necessitated by a small roof leak. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect replacement shingles This was a perfect match to my old asbestos shingle. Finally able to replace the chipped shingles that had become an eyesore. I will definitely be ordering more in the future. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great asbestos siding replacement. This is a great asbestos replacement for repairing or replacing old shingles. It is a little short in width compared to the ones I am replacing, but for the new exterior wall they are great! July 5, 2016
