How thick is the siding? The siding I have now is about 1/8th of an inch and it would be nice for it to blend.

Asked by: Popeye
Not sure of the thickness because I am not where it was installed but it was an exact replacement for the old asbestos siding. Same design, thickness, ext.

Received 400 square feet of these today to find out the nail holes are on the bottom edge so they are exposed after installation. What do you think is going to happen after very little expansion and contraction ? the nails are going to start to back out and you will have a path for water back to your underlayment. Also you are going to be looking at hundreds of nail heads, very attractive, and if they rust even worse. GAF needs to pull their head out and change their design. These are going back.

We had a tough time matching the existing wavy asbestos siding until we found these. They seemed easy to cut to the correct size and assemble. We had broken pieces of the old siding all around the house and these worked great to replace them. And once they were painted the same color as the house you can't even tell they are replacements.

Product was difficult to work with--the nail holes didn't align to the original size of tiles/nail holes on my house which meant extra drilling in order to patch these into place so I didn't break the original tiles. Close enough match. Overall, happy.

The only issue, which is not product related, is that it took Home Depot 7 days to get it to me. I needed it in 3-4 days. Expectations of on-line shopping customers is that you order something and it ships later that day or night.

Not super easy--they are cement--but instructions were good, telling what cutting tools to use. Drill w/a tile bit. The hole for the hose bib killed a hole saw. I primed it, and always wore a respirator and goggles.

Unfortunately I had to buy it to match the rest of the siding on the house. I would not recommend using it for a whole house. The shingles are very difficult to work with. They are heavy, hard to cut, and break very easily.
