Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Micki Perfect match, easy to paint
Bought these to replace some of the old asbestos shingles that were broken or got broken during repair of termite damage. Looks much better than vinyl siding would have - much more in the style of the old house. They are made to look just like the old style ones. Also, they accepted the paint very well - didn't suck it up like wood would. Needed less paint than anticipated. Ordered a total of 7 or 8 boxes - all arrived in perfect condition. Very satisfied.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SWink Great product to replace those old asbestos shingles
Be careful working with your existing asbestos shingles! Use proper precaution.
Price: A bit pricey but the end result was worth it in my opinion. I patched up where an old window used to be. It was an eyesore.
Actually installing them is fairly basic, however removing original shingles can be tedious because they are brittle. Use a small flat bar and hammer. Also get use a thin piece of wood against the shingles when you pry. The pressure could break your good shingles.
Use strips of felt paper at seams. Be sure the shingles are in the right spot before nailing down completely. Also don't nail too securely or shingle will break. Use 2" ring shank nails to secure. You will need a masonry drill bit to drill into shingles behind to put nails through them - DO NOT try to put a nail straight into the shingle, it will split/shatter the shingle. Overall, be careful in handling the product since they are thin and delicate. If you do break off a corner, KEEP IT! Use some good acrylic caulking to "glue" it back on and smooth over the seam. Once you paint it, it's hardly noticeable.
If you're doing a large patch like I did, use a small level on top of the shingle to ensure it's level or better yet snap a chalk line from TOP of existing shingles to ensure the course will line up nice and straight.
I cut my shingles with a 4" diamond blade on my grinder, which worked well even for cutting a circle for the dryer vent! Need a steady hand for straight cuts.
One other thing I encountered that doesn't have to do with the actual product itself but is good to know: My patch covered up an area where a window used to be. Whoever removed it and framed it in had the wall slightly bowing outward. I didn't think it would be a big deal but I ended up needing a 1/2" - 2" sliver to fill that gap. It would be best to make sure that wall is really straight before nailing up shingles.
They come pre-primed and took paint very well with one coat.
I bought these replication shingles on homedepot.com and received them in just a couple days.

This product is durable, lightweight and it is easy to drill holes on it or cut. additionally it does not contain any asbestos which made it safe to handle and to work with it. its quality easily surpassed the quality of the ones that we were replacing and it just made our old parish house remodeling project a lot easier.

I was very worried when I found out I had to replace broken asbestos tiles. I had no idea where to find a match since they were so old and no longer in production. Low and behold, GAF was one step ahead. These tiles were an exact pattern match of the broken tile I needed to replace. It was an easy install and the neighbors are none the wiser... The only caution is they are very fragile. Buy extra as you will undoubtedly break a few during the install.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TidyHome Great replacement for asbestos
Cuts well with cement blade in circular saw and drills well with cement bit. I believe it's the best I've seen to match up to existing asbestos siding to date. When I received them in the mail none were broken due to very careful packaging and I never broke even 1 piece during installation. They match up very well and paint over pretty reasonably with a couple of coats of paint.
Only real bad thing to say about the product is the price. For 18 pieces per box at $100.00 + after taxes I believe especially for that thin of cement it should be much cheaper. These seem to be higher then most fancy sidings available on the market. Perhaps they figure the real savings is not having to side the whole house which is true but the price is still way to high.
