Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rusty Fine little microwave, perfect for small spaces and only under-cabinet model we could find!
Small microwave oven is big enough to contain a large dinner plate, or a medium casserole dish with cover. Relatively low power (700 watts?). This is the only model we could find that mounts easily under a cabinet and does not have any sort of vent hood or range hood feature. The small size is perfect for regular kitchens. Note you do not really need the separate under-cabinet mount kit for this, you can get appropriate-length machine screws at the hardware store (or Home Depot!) that are threaded to fit the four mount holes in the top of this unit, and the correct length to fit through your cabinet "floor". We like the simple controls and one-touch operation for most uses.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by radioinactive Good microwave for the size and money
Looked for a small microwave oven to replace a larger one that took up to much counter space. This 700 watt counter-top model seemed to be the right fit. So far so good. The interior space is much smaller than our previous microwave, but a it has handled most items. Controls are easy to use. We went from a 1200 watt model to a 700 watt and cooking time is longer, but I would recommend this microwave, we're very pleased so far.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SpokaneRose Hangs under a cabinet, but small
GE Microwave Model # JE740DRWW is a small but adequate microwave for a couple. It is not big enough for a family. It is great for heating up two mugs of liquid but will only hold one bowl of soup at a time. I can barely fit a quart jar inside, liquids would spill out in the removal process as you have to tilt it under the edge and twist to get it in the door. [see photo] I bought this to replace another undercabinet microwave that was larger and fancier and more powerful, but had an unreliable repair history. This model hangs easily under the cabinet with just four size 10 fine bolts and 4 washers. I actually like the fact that it has a lower wattage 700 vs 1100 then my previous microwave. We are not in a hurry, and food is less apt to explode or get hard at the lower level. I have had this for about a month and still cannot figure out how to do staged power cooking. Frustrating. Finally an oven with 2 more inches of interior width and 1" more of interior height would be perfect, as long as it could be hung under my cabinet.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NapaDJ Good match for our needs.
We were looking for a small microwave oven, primarily for reheating food, heating water, popping popcorn. This 700 watt counter-top model seemed to be just what we were looking for to replace our 15 year old GE microwave. So far (after two weeks) it is working well for us. The interior space is noticeably smaller than our former one, but a large dinner plate still fits inside - but barely. Controls are easy to see and use. We just wish there was a mute button on the beeper, like on our older model!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Microwave Great for under-cabinet installation
This microwave is one of the very few that is compact and has a kit to allow it to be installed under the kitchen cabinets. All other under-cabinet models I could find were for over the range installation and they were too big for my planned installation. The microwave replaced an older Sharp model that had been installed 10 years ago. Unfortunately the interior of this GE model is slightly smaller than the Sharp model and certain items don't fit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PickyShopper This product does an excellent job.
I needed a small, white microwave to replace one that I had for about six years. I have very little counter space so I needed a small microwave but one that could fit dinner plates inside of it. I researched lots of microwaves and finally decided on this one. The controls are easy to figure out how to use, it is sturdy and it does a great job.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pppp Std 11" plate won't fit through opening!
A standard 11" plate won't fit through the opening, it has to be tilted (then we're talking spillage). But, once plate is inside, it fits. Someone didn't think out this design. Otherwise, it would be perfect, but have to give it a 1 for this reason only...doesn't serve needs from the start.

We wanted to replace our over-the-range microwave with a range hood, and we don't have a lot of spare space in the kitchen to relocate the microwave. So we started looking for a small microwave to tuck away in an island or on a shelf. This particular unit, which is narrower in width than the previous design, has just the right dimensions for the place we picked out. The quality of the controls feels better than other small microwaves; it seems as though GE has improved the design from previous versions. So far, it's done quite well for us. It (just) holds our full-size plates and cooks only slightly slower than the 1600W microwave it replaces. Our only mishap came when we tried to use the Popcorn setting; it burned the popcorn. We'd recommend taking the bag out a bit early!
