Will this replace a gfc290v?

Asked by: rick
Hello Rick, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. This model is 1/3 HP continuous feed but it is non-corded. It should work fine, however the GFC320V is the superseded model for the GFC290V, Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

Asked by: tbone19
Hello tbone19 - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. We're sorry; however, we do not have complete information on the Whirl Away 191 1/3 HP disposal. We believe this GFC325V would be a great replacement. It is a 1/3 HP, continuous feed unit with a line cord. It has a dishwasher inlet diameter of 3/4" and a drain outlet diameter of 1.5". I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Replacement for GFC 301-02?

We have an ancient GFC 301-02 GE Disposall (corded) that just quit; AT LEAST 18 years old but maybe original with the house 35 years ago. Is the GFC325V the best replacement? Are the basic dimensions (inlet, outlet, etc.) still the same? Thanks!
Asked by: Igor50

Customer Reviews

1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Function. Unit has rusted in only a year This model disposal came with our new home. We have been in the home just one year and the surface of the disposal is heavily rusted restricting the blade action. We probably have to replace the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation, Great Product I have never installed anything, and I was able to get this installed & working on my own (like a rock star!). The instructions were easy to follow, and even as an uncoordinated and clueless homeowner, it went in easy with no help needed. My old disposal was original to the house (1987!), big, heavy and loud. This thing is compact, powerful and QUIET. I especially appreciate that it has a stainless steel chamber - something I assumed they ALL had, but they don't. Also, there are no extras needed - for a stainless sink, you don't need plumber's putty but instead just use the included rubber flange. Again, the instructions explain all that. Love it! I'd recommend it for anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE Garbage Disposal standard, routine replacement item at a good price. Instructions well written with illustrations. All needed parts included. Delivery from GE source exceptionally well managed. Performance after installation was as advertised. The major issue was the fact that Home Depot does no stock GE Garbage Disposals but has apparently given all their business to Badger. A garbage disposal replacement by a layman (non plumber) is a task that requires hands on of the product in the store. Providing only online ordering from a picture and description is unsatisfactory for a "Hardware Store." I Home Depot has to go out to GE to get it even after going to Home Depot, why not just order it from GE. Not stocking this item is the height of customer dissatisfaction.
