Had 2 GE 1.4 countertop microwaves in 10 months and both had the same problem.
First GE 1.4 countertop microwave purchased was returned to the store with in 30 days days due to problem listed below.
Second GE 1.4 countertop microwave purchased in 8th month service tech came to repair. (SAME PROBLEM) GE ended up replacing the microwave because the part has been on backorder for months due to quantity of replacement parts needed per service tech.
Problem: Stops running on its own prior to time set due to faulty relay switch.
GE will replace microwave due to part not being available "ONLY" if under warranty. Lucky mine was still under the 1 year warranty.
Highly suggest extended warranty to have peace of mind if purchasing.

My first microwave in this model line quit working after a year or two and the second one worked for about 7-8 years. I like this model because of the features and size. The current microwave works very well, although it seems to take a little longer for it to heat the same amount of food or coffee water as the one it replaced. Overall I am very satisfied and hope it serves us as well as the last one. Based on the size and features, I would recommend this microwave to anyone who wants a microwave that will accomodate most cooking and heating needs but without taking up as much space as the larger models.

Bought in August and it quit 5 months later. I saw it received 4 stars but after reading the reviews don't see how? Need to wait 1 week for repairman who did nothing but check the latch. It ran for 1/2 day and then quit again. GE does not man their customer service until 9 PM as advertised either and repairs only Mon to Fri so have to wait again to fix. Issue is there is no light or motor coming on just the timer counting down

Numerous problems with the clock and timer. Clock lost two hours overnight - every night. Never knew if I'd get a buzz if I pressed start or it would start. Luckily, was still in 90 day return period. As we were getting ready to leave for the winter I did not replace it. Easily returned.

This is an economical but very efficient microwave. It has all the features that you will need - yet it is sleek with clean lines. The product works great what else would expect from GE.

This microwave is very much like my old 15 year old one, except a little quieter! Very simple and easy to operate yet has the choices I want. And due to efficiency reasons it was difficult to find one that the light comes on when the door opens and not operating. This one does! And the clock light is a little brighter which works as a night light which is nice. Very easy to use without too many complicated buttons.

This is an update to my original review of this microwave oven on November 4, 2012. At the time, I gave it 3 stars. I praised some of the convenience features, and panned the cooking performance, which I found to be terribly slow, not at all what one might expect from an 1100W unit.
This month (Jan. 2015), it died. Needless to say, my opinion of the oven has changed for the worse. I've noticed that the ratings for this microwave are fairly polar -- folks either love it, or else hate it because it crapped out on them. My theory is that the folks who love it are either lucky, or haters-to-be (when *theirs* craps out). There is clearly a problem with this microwave when so many people report that their ovens died long before they should have. I only wish mine had died under warranty....
Sure wish I could get parts for my old Litton -- it lasted over 20 years with daily use. Today that's a dream. It certainly won't happen with this model.
BOTTOM LINE: Do yourself a favor. Buy another brand. (I recommend Panasonic or Sharp.)
