Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Microwaver 4 years old and dead
Individual keys stopped working, replaced board + Key pad and frame at about the same. (more than the unit costs!) I really liked buying GE because it is American company. VERY DISAPPOINTED. unit is 2008 and we take very good care of our appliances...regularly cleaned and looks brand new. Competitor....here I come. Home Depot not a problem GE...in this case...designed junk...steam from boiling water is likely the culprit on the keypad. Not hermetically sealed? Who would have thought that an engineer would not know that over the range microwave ovens are subject to steam? Ridiculous!

This microwave was manufactured in June 2011. We had to have it repaired in May of this year due to it no longer heating which is sort of important in a microwave. Well, it's now September and it is no longer heating again. Contacted GE customer service and was told we had to pay $80 for a service call for microwave that was repaired 5 months ago. I will never but another GE product again. Poor product and even worse customer service. They should be ashamed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by solar Key Pad short after 2 years error message, after 2 days idle continued working
This 2010 unit gave "keyboard short" error message after using it for around 2 years. Note that several reviews have noted getting this problem which disables the unit. Some have tried to to have GE repair it at near the replacement cost, others have just replaced it. One reviewer noted the keypad is not sealed from water vapor thus leading to shorts when you boil water on the range. I would agree this is a very poor design. I was about to replace this one when I plugged it back in, rapped on the keypad with the balm of my hand, key pad became operative and unit is now working. Key pad was totally unresponsive after error message and up to this point.
We will not do any boiling on the ranges right burners and hope this helps (keypad on right). Given my experience thus far, I would no recommend this unit unless you can verify the design error has been corrected.

Died three times in a little over 3 years. Fixed twice, won't be a third time. Moving on to a better quality product. I gave my parents an old Montgomery Ward microwave that's easily 25 years old and still works to this day. This GE model was not built to last. Shouldn't be replacing it after such a short period of time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Good replacement microwave
I replaced my old GE microwave since the touch screen went out. This microwave is nicer than my original. It is quiet and easy to use and installation was pretty basic. I've used it for a few months now and haven't had any issues. The only complaint I have is that the turntable is not very smooth, so if you heat a cup of liquid, it sometimes spills because of the jerkiness of the table.

This model has many many features and is priced lower than similiar competitor's models. I have not used the pre-programmed settings except for the beverage. On a cup of cold coffee, it ran too long and the coffee was overheated. I really like its' full size and have not had any trouble getting the dishes in and have used the turntable on all of them. The one thing that can be improved is the way the door shuts.

We bought this microwave to replace a similar GE model that died after only 7 or 8 years. It installed very easily in the previous installation bracket and it works exactly as advertised. One thing that I need to check: the auto reheat option tends to go overboard. Hopefully a quick spin through the manual will give me a way to make it shut off a little earlier.
Side note: I originally tried to buy the same microwave from another national chain that rhymes with Quest Fry. They could not of bungled the order any worse! The product was clearly backordered but they didn't want to admit this. I went into one of their stores and the manager said they couldn't access online orders to see what was going on. I eventually had a delivery date, but the Best Buy (whoops, so much for keeping that a secret) system canceled the order after I "failed to pick it up". Incredible! Home Depot's experience was flawless.
