Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Keypad VERY Hard to Read
We will hopefully be remodeling our kitchen in the next couple years but our previous 9 year old GE Profile over the range microwave died on us recently (first half the keypad stopped working and eventually the magnetron stopped heating). We decided to get another GE to replace it until we remodel since most of the mounting and venting would be the same making it easier to swap them out (it was).
I didn't want to spend a lot since we wouldn't be using it more than a couple years. I found this model brand new in the box on clearance at my local Home Depot for a great price. It operates fine and does what it is supposed to do without any issues. My only major problem with it which I didn't notice until I installed it is the keypad writing is SMALL and the text is not very bright at all making it VERY HARD to read. The keypad area is also very glossy picking up reflections making it even worse. I'm not joking, you really need to concentrate to find what you are looking for and I'm only in my mid-40's. Eventually in time I'm sure I will just memorize where the buttons I use all the time are located and it won't be as big a deal. But I honestly would not have bought it had I realized it sooner. I would have spent an extra fifty bucks and purchased a current model with a better keypad.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by UnhappyCustomer Hate It! Worst microwave!!!
We were excited to get this microwave until we boiled water on the stove and turned the vent on. All the steam hit the bottom and rolled up the front of it. It wasn't drawing anything in the vent. We called customer service and they sent a repair company to "fix" it. The tech tested it, and dismantled all the covers and discovered there is no chase between the bottom and the vent fan so it is impossible for steam or smoke to vent! POOR DESIGN There IS a reason this model is discontinued! Home depot is just a third party seller of appliances and therefore do not take any ownership of helping loyal customers when buying appliances they sell. You are just referred to the manufacturer where no help can be found.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PearlGarden Nice microwave
This microwave is very nice, efficient and has just the right number of settings/features. We bought this one to replace an old counter top model and it blows the old one out of the water. The one touch feature is great and being able to use it with or without the turntable and the rack is a nice extra. The two things that kept me from being able to give it a 5-star rating: 1) the surface light is toooooo dim! Since the microwave is meant to be installed over a range, I am surprised that the light is so weak.
2) There was no owner's manual included other than the installation instructions and a "quick start" guide. I had to download one.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Heather1111 Don't Purchase This
DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE. I ordered it. It fit perfectly and looked perfect. After a 3 days of purchasing this micowave the fan went out. We would close the door and the microwave would keep running. After 2 different services appointments they decided it was defective and ordered us a new one. 13 months later.... same issue! Now the "new" one is rattling and the everytime we close the door the fan is still running. GE customer service was very poor as well.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tricia SS Microwave
We purchased this microwave just from looking online. It was very easy to install to replace the one that died on us. Matches the dishwasher we purchased a while back. The only thing I miss is the fact that it doesn't have a "hold warm" feature that we used quite often on the other one. Really nice product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tom Newer and improved GE microwave and DIY install
I had an older GE profile microwave installed by the original builder of the home. That box was a tank lasting almost 20 years. I decided I wanted to swap it out with another GE.
On the microwave
It is more powerful and more quiet. The button layout is different so I am learning where the new buttons are. The features are the same as the last GE profile so it is easy to use. I cannot speak to the longevity or durability but my initial impression is this is a nice upgrade.
We opted for the brushed stainless steel finish. That has its challenges. The GE finish seems to be a bit more challenge to take care of than our Bosch dish washer which is also stainless. Need to learn how to avoid leaving finger prints. If you already have stainless steel appliance this is not new. This finish catches all the light and you see every little nuance of shapes or differences in the metal. Keep this in mind because it might be a problem for some.
On the installation
I confirmed the outside dimensions were spot on exactly the same. However, the brackets are different and better. The holes cut in the cabinet lined up except for the power cord which moved. I have a jigsaw and it was relatively easy to make the necessary cuts.
One surprise was the extra parts that go on the side to make the GE microwave a full 36 inches wide. This required I cut my corian backsplash. The old side panels didn't line up with the back of the microwave and the new ones do. It was an easy job for my dremel to cut the corian once I found the right tip. Basically, the backsplash must be straight across and flat for the entire 36 inches and mine was not.
My first set of side panels had a small defect (a little dent) that I could not see until the very end. I left the protective wrapper on the side panels until the very end and when I pulled it off I discovered the dent. Home Depot graciously allowed me to return the side panels and I ordered a new set. Kudos to Home Depot for customer service. Boy am I glad I didn't get this through Amazon. I did purchase this all on line and to swap out the panels it required a trip down to Home Depot. Also, the on-line folks were very helpful and essential. If it weren't for their helpfulness I am not sure I would have used Home Depot in the first place.
The new wall bracket was easy to install. Drill some holes, find a stud, bolt it up. I have standard cabinets so all the dimensions worked perfectly to pull out the old and install the new.
The microwave sticks out a bit more than the old. Not a problem. I have to go get new flue materials as the old flue doesn't want to line up the same as on the old microwave.
Make sure you have help. There are steps that require two people.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Debby Got my Stainless Steel GE 1.7ft over the range microwave oven fit the bill
From day one my GE Stainless Steel over range Micro Oven, was great ! Needed a new one to replace my 15 year old dated GE white one that just died. The two installers from Homedepot made it so easy, installed up and running less than half hour, as for the Microwave, wonderful, not a negative word to say, Heats well and easy to use. I rate the unit excellent, except features good because I have not used all of them yet. I have plans to buy a new updated GE refrigerator and stove in the very near furture to finish my kitchen update.
