Hello Lawrence, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. I will be happy to help! I checked both models and they use different mounting plates. You will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with the new microwave. The mounting kits have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day! For more information on microwave replacement, please see following: All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy.
NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Read Less

I've read a review that said a similar model doesn't have a swirler fan and therefore has a hot spot in the middle of the microwave which burns whatever is in the center (strips of bacon). Does this model have a swirler fan to prevent this problem?

Hello CJ - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This microwave does not have a convection fan, but it does have a recessed turntable which helps the food cook more evenly. There is also a stirrer inside the oven walls to provide greater distribution of microwaves throughout the oven cavity. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hate It! Worst microwave!!! We were excited to get this microwave until we boiled water on the stove and turned the vent on. All the steam hit the bottom and rolled up the front of it. It wasn't drawing anything in the vent. We called customer service and they sent a repair company to "fix" it. The tech tested it, and dismantled all the covers and discovered there is no chase between the bottom and the vent fan so it is impossible for steam or smoke to vent! POOR DESIGN There IS a reason this model is discontinued! Home depot is just a third party seller of appliances and therefore do not take any ownership of helping loyal customers when buying appliances they sell. You are just referred to the manufacturer where no help can be found. August 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Keypad VERY Hard to Read We will hopefully be remodeling our kitchen in the next couple years but our previous 9 year old GE Profile over the range microwave died on us recently (first half the keypad stopped working and eventually the magnetron stopped heating). We decided to get another GE to replace it until we remodel since most of the mounting and venting would be the same making it easier to swap them out (it was). I didn't want to spend a lot since we wouldn't be using it more than a couple years. I found this model brand new in the box on clearance at my local Home Depot for a great price. It operates fine and does what it is supposed to do without any issues. My only major problem with it which I didn't notice until I installed it is the keypad writing is SMALL and the text is not very bright at all making it VERY HARD to read. The keypad area is also very glossy picking up reflections making it even worse. I'm not joking, you really need to concentrate to find what you are looking for and I'm only in my mid-40's. Eventually in time I'm sure I will just memorize where the buttons I use all the time are located and it won't be as big a deal. But I honestly would not have bought it had I realized it sooner. I would have spent an extra fifty bucks and purchased a current model with a better keypad. September 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great features and great look i bought this microwave several months ago and I have not cooked a meal in it but use it every day for reheating. It is powerful and the express cook buttons are awesome. I love the gray around the door/buttons instead of black. it also has feature to change the volume of the "ready" alert. I will also not let you start the over if there is no food in it. I use the timer every day for cooking and you can cook and time at the same time (my old microwave would not allow this). haven't used the exhaust fan much but it is powerful. the stainless steel is not mirrorlike, which is why I liked it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is puuuurfect style I love the GE microwave, it has everything I want and need. I am very happy with my choice. it is very quiet and I love the charcoal filter to help clean the air while cooking August 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by missing installation parts opened the box to find installation parts (mounting bolts etc.) were missing. had to use old bolts to install. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking w/ great features There are only two things about this unit we're not thrilled with and didn't realize till after we installed it... there is hardly a difference between the 2 fan speeds and we would rather the range light be placed more toward the front of the unit, rather than the rear - its too close to the wall. Not deal breakers, but worth mentioning. July 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Microwave for our space The previous owners of our house had remodeled our galley style kitchen and we needed to replace the microwave into the pre-existing space. This microwave was one of the few stainless steel options that fit appropriately into our space. This microwave has excellent capacity but built so that it can fit into a smaller space. Functionally we have had no issues. Works great, looks great, would recommend. August 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Display Not Easy to Read We bought this is the spring and the microwave works fine. The problem we have is that the function keys are difficult to read because they are poorly lit. We need to turn on additional lights in the kitchen to read the captions for the buttons July 29, 2016
