Customer Questions & Answers

Am I able to just put in the time I want and hit START. Just two simple steps is what I want.

Asked by: KJC1
For anyone who prefers a microwave to function in this manner, I have to ask, is it really worth it? You're saving one button press but still have to press 2 to 5 buttons to enter your time and start the microwave depending on the time you want to enter. Is it really that much harder to press 3 to 6 buttons vs. 2 to 5? Gaining the ability to start the microwave with a single button press much of the time seems well worth that extra button press to me.

JMV7195 vs PVM9195 microwave

Your GE website states that both microwaves have 400 cfms. The PVM9195 has 4 speeds and the JMV7195 has 3 speeds, but you indicated in an earlier question that only the 9195 has 400 cfms. Which is true? Second question, how many lights do these micowaves have and where are they located? In the middle of on the sides? thank you

Our 15 year old GE Profile Microwave JVM1660WB just died. We like GE JVM7195DFWW. What do you think? Is that easily interchangeable?

Asked by: Jack
No, I liked my profile a lot better. The 195 does not compare.

Automatic vent

Does this have an automatic vent that turns on when it gets heated from the range underneath it?
Asked by: Micresearch
Hi Micresearch- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Microwaves! Yes, all GE over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan as a safety feature. This fan automatically turns on if the unit is overheating. This is in addition to the fan switch that manually controls the exhaust fan. The built-in thermostat causes the exhaust fan to turn on automatically if the temperature around the control panel rises to approximately 150 degrees F. This feature helps protect the electronic components and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The thermostat resets itself and the fan shuts off when the surface area cools to approximately 150 degrees F or less. Thanks for checking with us!

1.9 cu. ft. 1100-Watt Over the Range Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 1252.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Watch for Manufacturing date in Serial Number! just received this JVM7195SFSS stainless steel microwave on 5/28/16....was dismayed that the manufacturing date is Dec. 2014...thus sitting in a warehouse almost a year and a half! Still under warranty (one year starts at delivery date), but I am concerned about moisture in the item can affect parts inside and the microwave might not last as long for me after warranty term. So thought I would alert others as to looking at serial number.....per GE website FAQ: first letter is month and the second letter refers to year and "G" is 2016. My serial # "ZD" is Dec. 2014! Not happy, trying to get exchanged (GE confirms latest manufacturing date is April 2016 code "GG"...would not have bought this one if I knew this could happen! Otherwise, looks to be a good unit...will advise after install and use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed The microwave works fine but within 6 months of purchase the finish on the handle started bubbling up. It is now 10 months old and when I called GE about this they assured me it was covered for replacement, received call from repair people who said not covered. Called GE, they said it is covered and called repair people while I was on the phone. Repair people called a few days later to say it is not covered. Called GE today and was told it was not covered. This microwave is installed higher than the minimum height requirement,. I have had an over the range microwave for over 20 years and never had this problem. I see this one is discontinued, wonder why??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Microwave! I am very pleased with this microwave. It is functional as well as beautiful to look at. I am impressed with how quiet it is and the vent fan which has four settings is also very quiet on the last two settings. I tested the vent out by holding a paper towel under it as it was running and it held the paper towel up which means it is also pulling the grease and steam up away from the stove top below it. The only thing that I would say is a con is that the dark pad where the buttons are is a little hard to see. This isn't a huge problem, just a small thing that might be changed on a newer model in the future. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I bought this microwave June of last year. However, it stopped heating several months after I'd bought it. Your technician fixed it. It worked for maybe another month or so and the technician ordered what would've been extremely expensive had it not been under warranty. I requested a new microwave because I was afraid it would happen again. I bought 4 GE appliances last June. The burner on my stove stopped working a couple of months after it was installed and the dishwasher sometimes leaves mildew on my dishes if I don't open the door immediately after it finishes. All in all I'm really disappointed with my GE appliances. I can't afford extended warranties.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very disappointed This product seems very good overall, even though I haven't had it very long and there were no instructions on how to operate it. However, the one thing that is wrong with it is huge to me! The touch pad is black and the numbers/letters on it are very light white. There is no back light. Not only is it hard to read with light bouncing off of it in the daytime, you have to turn on a kitchen light to read it at night. Horrible engineering design! Had I known of this problem, I would not have purchased this product. Also, I didn't appreciate having to call the company for a manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good machine, fits right in where the old GE was. I was looking to replace my old space saver GE microwave oven and found this model. I did want an all black one, however GE did not offer black in the Space Saver line at the time. The mic has more power than the old machine; boiling one cup of water at 1:30 as opposed to 2:00. Not to pleased with the fancy button options, we tried them, but only have used the steam button. We tend to just put the food in and learn how many seconds it takes to defrost or boil, or re-heat the food that we have selected. Guess we are just use to the old button layout (really did not need a redesign there). On the whole nice oven, hope it lasts as long as the last one did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fan randomly runs I love several features on this microwave especially the "soften" button. Perfectly softens butter AND ice cream. The popcorn button is perfect. I don't love the fact that it downs appear to really "vent" anything, even on the highest setting. It vents inside so I don't know if we vented it outside if it would be better. We can have a pot of boiling water going and it doesn't appear to suck any steam in the vent direction and it's LOUD!! We've also had issues with the fan running when we shut the door. Even if nothing is cooking. When you shut the door a fan just starts running and won't stop unless you slam the door. We've had a tech out and of course it didn't do it so he couldn't fix it. Overall, not impressed. I think we got a lemon.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too much emphasis on junk food The good: Venting is strong although a bit noisy. The bad: Beverage button does not sense water vapor but is just a simple timer. You need to push multiple times in succession for more than one cup. No soup button. Popcorn button and reheat functions are useless. Reheat has a "plate of foods" option that nearly always aborts (times out) with an error code. I find that the only way to use this unit is with the timer. It is very poor in sensing when food is done. Too many options for various junk foods.
