Any of our new 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to go into the same space as your JVM1870BF07. However, you will need to use the new mounting brackets as they have changed over the years and are not compatible with the new units. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking Read More

Answer:
I'm not familiar with the mounting bracket for your existing microwave, but to be on the safe side I would install the new mounting bracket that comes with the microwave as per installation directions. The placement of the mounting bracket is very specific to each models cabinet dimensions and alignment with the mounting hooks on the bracket.

There must a minimum of 30 inches from the top of stove to the bottom edge of the cabinet where the microwave will be mounted. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beware of GE Will NEVER buy GE appliances again!!! Now our Microwave stopped working this week. We had replaced all appliances with GE a few years ago. We are not heavy users. Dishwasher broke right away after 1 year. Problems with loud refrigerator from the start also, and finally fixed so that it works but ice maker and water option in the door does not work still. GE Stove rusted on the front so we replaced it as well. VERY unhappy with entire GE experience. Now we have all MAYTAG appliances. So far so good! Will replace our microwave with MAYTAG. I'm a top Realtor with major company and will continue to warn clients!!! February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good, large microwave. This is a replacement for similar one.. Cubic foot is greater than old one. Only one problem, the buttons have been moved. The potato button is now where heating liquid used to be. Start, pause, cancel, timer are all moved. Frankly, it's driving me crazy. Hope to get used to it soon, but old habits die hard. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE microwave Still new. No complaints. We had it delivered & installed. It was quick and painless. March 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy me Couldn't be happier. New microwave is just what I wanted, Home Depot proved very easy to work with on line. Installers were prompt, fast and pleasant. I will definitely look to Home Depot for appliances in the future. December 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product We had another GE over the range microwave for over 15 years, it stopped working and we thought it was time to get a new one. This one is basically the newer version of our old one. It is a bit roomier on the interior and the button placement is a little different. It is quieter and you can adjust the volume of the end cycle beep, other than that it is the same. It also has brighter lighting for the range. The exhaust fan seems stronger and quieter as well. Very easy to install, although the old brackets needed to be removed and the new brackets installed, the new bracket made it easier since they held up the unit while we installed the screws into the bottom of the cupboard. Our one problem was that our electrical outlet was below and to the left of the new microwave. Before we could just snake the cord down behind the microwave and plug it in. With the new bracket, there is no space between the wall and the microwave so we needed to install a plug in the cupboard, not a big deal. Very, very good unit and I would recommend it to anyone that wants an over the range unit. March 22, 2016
