Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by OK for what it does I purchased several of these for my GE housing. I note Home Deport no longer stocks the GE unit or these filters. The usual price was around $15-16. I bought these online for less than $10. I assume Home Depot is just getting rid of their stock. The store now carries a generic filter which will likely do the job just fine. The only negative for these filters is the requirement to flush them for 10 minutes, wait an hour and flush for another 10 minutes. A waster of water. Normally one could use the flushed water in the garden but, in my case, it is soft water and therefore has a higher sodium content. July 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE sediment filter vs HDX I have been using the Ge sediment filter in SW Florida for well water for 5 years. I get the water tested regularly and it's always good. I was buying them in store for $16 and change out the door. Didn't realize they are less on line until I went to buy one a couple weeks ago. Our local home depot didn't have any on the shelf. Instead there was a HDX universal fit sediment filter. looked the same and I really needed a new filter, it was same price, so I bought it. I soon found out HDX wasn't the same. HDX is made in China and has 50 pleats, GE made in Mexico and has 78 pleats. HDX paper pleat quality is not as good as GE, which was obvious to the eyes and to the touch. HDX only lasted 1 month. GE lasts my family 3 months - 3 people, showers every day, washer couple times a week, and dish washer few times a week. We do clean out the big well water tank every time we install a new filter and we have a water softener so that may prolong the filters life for us. I will continue to buy the GE filters as long as the filter unit itself will hold up! July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE Pleated Filter I use two filters per month, so the cost is important. Ordering online makes my monthly cost affordable. July 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Filter! Great price for a quality filter. Bought on-line, so no delivery charge. Can't really say that that it out performed the other filters I've tried, but they've lasted equally as long. June 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Filters out the mess! Put a dual filter system in my home to filter the well what a difference! I use the Home Depot pleated filter at the beginning and it really works well eliminating the heavy stuff. Then I use the solid filter on the backside. I am very please the pleated filters really work. Check out the results in my photo. December 10, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better Service Life Than House Brands We use GE Brand water filters in a commercial setting where we generate a bit more sediment to be filtered than you might find in normal applications. I have tried numerous "house brand" or "no name" brand filters. The house brand filters will rapidly get overloaded and cause excessive back pressure, and have to be replaced in a very short time. The GE filters are able to trap the sediment, yet not get clogged and continue to be serviceable in the time I might have to use 3 to 4 of the other filters. The GE filters are a little bit more expensive but pay for themselves in longer service life. April 21, 2015
