CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 64 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PIECE OF JUNK!!!! My AC unit broke after one summer. It just stopped turning on. When I called for service the guy finally showed up after cancelling, rescheduling, and then not coming to the rescheduled appointment. On the third attempt he comes without notifying me, takes one look at the unit and says it'll cost me $350 to fix. Oh and it's $108 for my "Professional diagnosis". I feel like I was robbed and violated in my own home. Absolutely the last time I will be using ANY GE product. May 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Right size, easy to install, effective energy saver feature My purchase of this air conditioner was determined by size, EER rating, and cost. Our old air conditioner was housed in a custom insulation panel. The GE was closest in overall size. It was easy to install and has worked well since it was purchased about a month ago, especially on the energy save setting. Other window air conditioners we have had have cycled too frequently (in extreme cases, switching on for less than a minute, switching off, and repeating the short cycle). This particular model seems to operate in a 4 degree range, coming on when two degrees above the setting and going off at two degrees below. This gives the compressor time to reach peak effectiveness (my theory) and means the air conditioner switches on and off less often. August 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase I purchased this unit for my living room, living in the valley can get pretty hot during summer time and this unit so far has done a great job at keeping us cool. The fan is very strong and makes very little noise. Very satisfied ! May 20, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by OK if you don't need to sleep, talk, watch TV, etc. Just bought this, but talk about loud! I first turned it on and thought "Geez that's loud, I'll probably have to keep it on low" - then realized it already was on low. And it is not vibrations, as a GE rep. replied to another post. It is just an extremely loud fan. Also, every time the unit is turned on, it automatically starts in energy-saver mode, which I find annoying. I left it in that mode yesterday, and it shut off when the unit said the room was 68. A thermostat in the room said it was 77, and it certainly felt like the thermostat was correct. This is going back. May 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relatively quiet with good cooling I've never seen a window air conditioner that is whisper quiet, and this one certainly is not either. But compared to the Frigidaire 10000 BTU model I bought from another store and returned, this one is much more tolerable noise-wise. When this GE is set to its energy efficient mode with the fan set to Auto, it periodically stops blowing, firing back up when the thermostat decides it is time to run again. This not only helps with power consumption, but also helps minimize noise. Cooling power is excellent for a unit this size. I use it in a 22x11 foot kitchen area that has an open doorway to another (not air conditioned) room, and the unit does just fine cooling the kitchen space. I sometimes use a box fan to blow cooled air into the adjoining room, and while that adjoining room doesn't get cold, the circulated air helps lower the temp in the the adjoining room and the A/C unit still keeps up. The unit also comes with a remote that has proven to be a handy addition. It's a fairly priced unit that does it's job. I'd buy it again. July 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by easy install, cold. installs easily, gets cold fast, fairly average sound levels... Not whisper quiet but not a jet engine either. Only complaint is the cheapness of the directional vents. The unit is new, so nothing wrong yet - but I can see these suckers breaking in pretty short order if you move them a lot (or over time the cheap thin plastic getting brittle very quickly). If you're planning on mostly leaving them alone - not a big deal. July 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good and cold It maintain temperature just sat on 75 in my whole apartment. April 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Very Good, gets cold fast. I don't think you will ever need to put this A/C on high because on low it gets cold enough. Delivery was very easy and no problems. June 27, 2012
