Answer:
I have a 1300 SF house with a fridge, separate freezer, 4 flat screens, 2 ton AC, and pool pump and I have no issues with the unit running my whole house other than a control board went out on the unit 2 months after the warranty expired. It would also be nice to have a muffler to keep the noise down.

Answer:
To ensure this is the best unit for your home you will need to add up the wattage of the items you want to power and make sure you do not exceed the rating on the generator.

Answer:
Hi Phemie,
This generator system would be able to handle the workload of your 5 bedroom home, as long as it does not exceed the 10,000 watts rated for it.
Just add up what circuits and appliances are in your home to make sure it is adequate. If you are unsure how to do this, consult an electrician in your area who can determine this for you.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Important Question-Snow build-up around unit: How do you keep it away? Just got this unit installed three months ago and has already been in action twice during power failures. But I'm wondering how you keep snow away from the air intake unit if it should snow greater than a foot or so? I live in Vermont and if I'm away for more than a day and it could really snow, what kind of structure can you build around the unit...so that the unit can "breathe" and deadly gases don't develop? It should be a big problem but no one seems to have an answer. September 23, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by started having problems 2 months after warranty expired! I have had this generator for exactly 4 years and 2 months (so warranty expired 2 months ago) and now I have a control board that needs replacing for about $300! I only have 172 operating hours on the unit, it has had all of its suggested maintenance and it is "exercised" once a week as the manual recommends. This unit has been pampered and 2 months after the warranty expires I have an expensive repair? Now I have no faith it will be there when I need it. Should have bought a generac. July 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by service/functions i am on oxygen 24/7. in the past, i had to find my way down cellar to get on a different oxygen delivery system if i had a power failure. my neighbor had to take care of my gas generator as i am unable to do it. this wonderful generator has given me immeasureable peace of mind and being able to detect what is wrong from inside the house is awesome. philbrick's generators out of stratham, nh is my dealer and i could not ask for better service. all company of all types should take lessons from them as well as the team they have set up to install them from the electrician (s) to the fuel company. i am so pleased and happy. i will recommend this to anyone. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Investment For Your Money! Between my electrician & gas guy, they had no troubles hooking this up! Only having it for a couple months now, I'm excited to see when it saves our food & give us some light! I'm surprised how much can actually run on it...I was thinking of just a fridge, freezer & some lights, but it can do pretty much the whole house except the heat/AC & stove/oven. We have a fireplace for some temporary heat & fans will come in handy if it's hot! We ran it for just over 2 hours & it did awesome. Fairly quiet, maybe some back ground noise at the least with nothing in the house on! November 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not very reliable bought 5 yrs ago rotor shorted out. now it's just a natural gas engine. not worth the warranty to have it fixed October 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE 10KW Generator The Grnerator and heather arrived quickly. No damage. I wait till the snow will melt before install it. January 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by High failure and unreliable in any weather System was professionally installed 6/11/11. Multiple failures in any weather, most recently in winter, the reason for emergency power, have a functional furnace in the winter. Most recent failure due to a frozen fuel relay. The whole product line was rushed to market. A. Akagi Plymouth Mi March 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installed 4 years ago and works very well I live in a bedroom community north of Boston. Its been 4 years since installation and very few problems have occurred. I have it operating on natural gas which is the best option since it is less likely to be effected by stormy weather. The transfer switch works flawlessly. I hardly know when it switches from utility power to generator and back. is relatively quiet since I have installed it out back about 6 feet away from the house. The exercise cycle also works well and only a few minor faults have occurred. These were readily corrected with the help of your excellent phone support. It's also interesting to note that since I have installed this unit, we have not had a power failure for more than a few minutes at a time, so I don't know how well it will perform over an extended period.
