Answer:
Yes. A 12 volt battery and a gas supply is all that is needed to start & run the unit. If there is the necessity to keep the battery and oil warm in cold weather when the unit is not in use, you will need a 240 VAC supply.

Hi Sammy,
Thank you for your question.
Setting up this generator without an electric supply would void the warranty.

Answer:
Hello Art and thank you for your question.
The engine of your home generator system is factory calibrated to run on natural gas (NG). It may also be operated on liquefied petroleum (LP) vapor. The LP Conversion Kit is supplied and required to convert the unit to LP vapor fuel. The Operators Manual will include detailed instructions on selecting the fuel for your generator.
Best wishes on your project.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failure for GE only 36 hours of run time (exercise time) and iy has failed, repair wants $80 hour and mileage starting as soon as he walks out his door. No GE generator product gets my recommendation.. January 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product is a good all in one package. The installation manual is comprehensive, if you are a do-it-yourselfer. If you are wondering how loud 70 db's is, it is LOUD; as loud as a push lawn mower. HomeDepot show's 68 db's in it's specs but the owners manual that comes with the unit rates it at 70 db's. Knowing this would not stop me from purchasing the generator but it is a good reference for those who are wondering. The package arrived in good shape and there were no missing items. I thought the battery charger was a seperate item but I called customer support and later received an email stating that it is incorporated into the unit. There was also two remote modules included. This was a bonus I did not expect! I did not buy this unit for the "automatic on" feature. I only want to run it while I am at home. Also, I did not connect my utility power lines to the transfer switch. If the power goes out, I will have to plug the generater feed into my distribution box. This is done by wiring the generator feed lines from the transfer switch to a receptacle and then using a plug & cable assembly to backfeed into my distribution box. I did use a seperate 2 pole circuitbreaker to feed power to the transferswitch to permit the use of the battery warmer, oil warmer and allow communications between the transfer switch and the generator. The battery warmer and oil warmer are easy to install and the electrical connections for them could not be more simple. The unit looks nice and appears to be well constructed. Although the 4 year or 1600 hours warrenty sounds good if power outages are rare in your area, when you factor in 20 minutes a week for the "self test" feature those 1600 hours could disappear quickly if you have prolonged outages on a regular basis. I have no "buyers remorse". Only time will show if the quality of the product equals the cost of the purchase and installation. November 27, 2012
