Answer:
If you live in the USA you will have 115-120 volts. Not 110. That is in other parts of the world. If for some reason you do read 110 on a volt meter then you have a problem with your power and need to have it checked out.

Answer:
No, this unit is not quiet. When you first turn it on, it sounds great, but as soon as the condensate builds up inside the unit, it sounds like a water fountain. GE says this is normal as the slinger ring picks up condensate and pours it over the condenser coils to improve efficiency and manage condensate. It seems that they could have made this quieter in some way - we have the technology!

For quieter and nighttime cooling, select Low Cool with the temperature control at midpoint.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sleek appearance, easy use, great quality Just purchased this unit and the results have been amazing. July 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good About a month in and no issues. Hopefully it stands up. August 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works fine! Bought this in early summer to replace one in the bedroom that had to be 15 years old or more. It is quieter and does a good job of cooling. Others had reported in their critiques that it was too loud; I have to turn the TV up if it is running, but it does not interfere with sleep. It is almost 30# lighter than the one it is replacing, so my back appreciates that when moving it in and out of the window. The only complaint I would have is that it sometimes needs a nudge to turn on unless I have it set pretty low (68 or so); if I have it set at 74, for example, it can be 76 before it finally will turn on. Generally this isn't a big deal - on nights when it is beastly hot, I just set it to a lower temperature. I also bought some extra foam inserts to block air from coming in around the side panels as the ones on this unit didn't seem as sturdy or occlusive as the ones on the older unit. All in all I'm happy with it, and doubly so on those miserably hot nights when you wouldn't get a single minute of sleep without it. July 8, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fast cooling time. Liked how the extension pieces mount to the unit w.o. screws. Wish portable A.C.'s were lighter weight. All in all, a fast installation. (Unit didn't include a bracket/brace for underneath (outside). May 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what we needed We could not afford a whole home ac unit, so we found this one. We have an open concept home, so this works out great! We put it in the bedroom window facing our gulley kitchen and put a fan in our doorway to help move the air through the kitchen to the dining/living room. It works great! We really like the Eco feature that allows it to run periodically when we are gone instead of constantly. We need to get another one for the other two rooms in our home because of the location, and we would be glad to do so. The air doesn't quite flow as easily to those areas. It didn't mess up our utility bill, so we were pleased. We also like the remote and the fan feature. We didn't always need it really cold, but we liked the chilly air movement. January 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reliable Performance We had an Air Conditioner die on the hottest day of the year (what a surprise, right?) I immediately shopped a few local sources online, checked inventory on hand and rushed out to buy this GE model because I trust the brand. It has performed exactly as I expected. It's quiet and does a good job quickly cooling a good size room (9x12 with 10ft ceiling). The only complaint I'd have is that the drain for the condensation requires positioning the AC at a significant pitch in order to actually get the water to drain out. The drain needs to be positioned at the outside edge of the bottom, not 3/4 of the way across the bottom. Hello engineering? Other than that it works quite well. November 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Runs Perfectly I bought this for my classroom at school since our school doesn't have Central AC and my 3rd graders love it and they are the "coolest" kids in the school during our hot days. November 16, 2015
