Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use a ballast that says it works for 4ft bulbs for 24in bulbs as well?

Have a fixture that uses 4 F17/T8 bulbs on a single ballast (existing is some brand I can't find info on). I can't find any ballast meant for four bulbs that short.

Great Question, There Are Some Ballast That Would Work, But Generally Speaking You Are Better Off In Getting Ballast Designed For The Bulb Set up You Have In Your Fixture. Be Sure To Be Save And Make Sure Power Is Off At The Breaker Prior To Servicing Fixture.

Can I use this ballast to retrofit an older T12 fixture to use T8s? Are the socket sizes for the lamps different?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes You Can. The Upside Is The Sockets Are The Same, And You Are Going To Save Energy Cost As Well As The t8's Tend To Last Longer Than The t12.

Can i simply not use a few of the leads for the two bulb fixtures? I can not find my reciept for return

It Should Say On The Ballast Itself, Some Will Work On Both 110 And 220. Some Will Not, So It Is Important To Read Label Carefully.

Customer Reviews

120 to 277-Volt Electronic Ballast for 4-ft. 4-Lamp T8 Fixture is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unacceptable for home or office This ballast will light T8 bulbs brightly, but carries a warning that it should not be used for residential uses. Also, wherever it is used it will interfere with radio reception, causing a static buzz. For me this is unacceptable for my home, the studio where I work, and garage. Even battery-operated radios are affected. The GE Ballast toll-free line was equally disappointing. After listening to GE ads for twenty minutes, I spoke to a polite representative who had to put me on hold again to look up information on ballasts. High marks to Home Depot though! I bought this product from a hardware store closer to my home. After returning it, I found the Philips residential product was featured at Home Depot. Half the price and it works perfectly!
