Drain hose

How do you install a drain hose? Water is Going all over my deck. Model no. ael10avh1. What exactly do i need to buy?
Asked by: Tinna444
Hello Tinna444 - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear you are getting water all over your deck. I am happy to help you. Normally, water coming from this air conditioner would collect in the base pan. The water is then picked up and thrown against the condenser on rainy days or when the humidity is high. This design feature helps remove moisture and improve efficiency. When water collects in the base pan during high humidity or on rainy days, the water may overflow and drip from the outdoor side of the unit. This is normal. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

14,200 BTU 115-Volt Electronic Window Air Conditioner with Remote is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent unit Had originally purchased a 12K btu LG portable unit to replace my old GE 12K btu window model that died. I left it running all day (85 degrees) and was very disappointed - hardly cooled my living room. Exchanged it for this GE model and I am very happy. Within an hour I knew I had made the right choice. A bit a of a pain to assemble and awkward to put in the window because of the size/weight, but this is to be expected. Definitely want a rear support with this monster! Generally satisfied with the performance, and its very quiet too which is nice. Would recommend to anyone looking to cool a decent sized room or small house without going to 220 volts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Unit, strange engineering miss This A/C was as described in the literature. Took some modification for me to install as I was putting it into a non-sash window, but install was easy once I got the cabinet in place. A very strange engineering omission exists, however, in that no condensation hole outlet was placed in the cabinet, and I had to call for a service check because the water in the condensation tray was being pulled up by the external fan, and making lots of noise while the A/C was running. Really, a pretty poor follow through on a very elementary need. The technician drilled an exit hole for the condensate, outside of the room being cooled, and all works fine now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm Great product. Installation was a sinch. I was able to install the unit into the window without requiringanother person. The room is finally cool!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked great for 15 months then broke completely This product cooled my whole house for nearly 2 summers. After that it broke completely. I expect a better quality product for $400. I have a 20 year old unit that was made with much better quality and actually still works. Stay away!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to install Written and picture directions were horrible. Had to install mainly by trial and error. Had to drill a drain hole for condensation water to drain. Does a great job of keeping our house cool by using fans to move the air. Our house is 1480 sq. ft.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Assembly horrible works good I can't believe you would have to disassemble the whole air conditioner just to put brackets on. Very poor planning on ge. Once assembled works nice two stars for assembly

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not avaiable in any stores Home Depot should stop advertizing this AC--it is not available anywhere in our area and they will not ship to a store from another site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine I still find it hard to believe how quiet this powerful A/C is; even on the higher settings.
