Contacted GE repair services after posting initial review to Home Depot website. Was told that a technician to come to the house would be $100.00 and that nothing could be done regarding our situation. Was told to speak to customer advocacy department. Spoke with Joyce who was pleasant. Explained situation and that I wanted to give GE an opportunity to assist in correcting the issue. Was told that there was nothing that could be done seeing as product was out of warranty. GE, why have advocates if you can only advocate for people's who's products are under warranty? Salt In the wound GE. It's bad enough you took 400 dollars from me, but then you hide behind a facade of 'customer advocates' who cannot advocate for the people. Needless to say I will not be padding your wallets by giving 100 dollars to your repair tech to sell me a $300 dollar compressor and charge another 150 in labor.
The way you earn customers for life is not by avoiding issues, it is by owning them when they arise and doing the right thing. Needless to say you have lost a customer for life, and thanks to the transparency of the Internet, hopefully hundreds more. Not only do I urge those reading this to not buy this Ac unit, but urge those to avoid dealings with companies who do not stand behind their products or to do the right thing given the opportunity.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by semmel Great cooling, but bad instructions, bad design, no water drain
It cooled like nobody's business! But only after I spent a lot of time trying to make sense of the instructions.
The pictures did not match the product and the descriptions of where to find or put items were vague.
In order to install or remove the A/C, you have to detach the control panel from the front of the unit with very little space to get a screwdriver in, and the one screw that holds the whole thing together is on the side so you can't easily get to it if your window's side frame gets in the way.
And the way it fit into our window, there was no way to tip it sufficiently for water to drain.
However, I did not find an opening that might have been designed to get rid of the water - it's like the water is designed to stay in the bottom pan. When we removed the A/C, we had dozens of dead bugs floating in that water as well!
Note that the product has been discontinued on the GE site, at least one or two pages on the site are missing, and one part of the site has no security certificate for https - fail!
Returned the item, will think twice before buying a GE A/C again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MK Worked, then crapped out.
Unit was great when it worked. Exactly 2 years later it will not blow cold air anymore. Called GE and they recommend having one of their third party service companies come take a look at it. Better off buying a new one with extended warranty.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by keith Stopped cooling after 1 year
Bought this air conditioner 2 years ago. Have a 1700 square foot 2 story home. Cooled the first floor well the first summer. This year the AC only cools the air about 5 degrees. I.e. Room is 80, air coming out of Ac is 75. As you can imagine, your not going to cool things down much at that rate. All electrical components are working, compressor turns on. Suspecting there is a coolent leak.
So we're out of warranty now with a 400 dollar AC that technicians want 120 to look at let alone the additional parts and labor costs associated with fixing this.
Thanks for the 1 year of cool and the 400 dollar paperweight GE. Do yourselves a favor and include a warranty program with your product that actually means something, or maybe just make a product that doesn't warrant needing an actual warranty program.
Everyone reading this, do yourselves a favor and run away. If you've already bought this, my condolences.

I purchased this air conditioner at the beginning of the summer of 2015. I found to be more than I had anticipated. It ran very quiet and cooled my room space in the energy saving mode saving me from a high electric bill.
