Customer Questions & Answers

Can I wire this "in reverse"?

I want to have a pump powered down for several minutes when someone is nearby (the pump is loud). Currently, people turn off the pump, but often forget to turn it back on. I searched for SPDT switch on your site, and this item came up.

Hello Jim and thank you for your question. Jim this is a 60 minute mechanical timer that can be set to power something for up to 60 minutes (count down) or continuous. If you're looking for something that will kick in on designated times i would refer to more complex 24 hour mechanical timer. Hope this helps.

Hey Jeff - Thank you for your question. I reached the manufacturer on this, and this is their response: "It would be necessary to ensure the Hot wire in the switch location attached to the existing switch is connected specifically to the black wire of the timer, and the load wire of the existing switch is connected to the Red wire of the timer. If these two wires are reversed, it can cause the timer to work incorrectly. Also be sure the timer has it’s white neutral wire connected to the proper neutral return wires in this location. These are typically located in the back of the box in a bundle, not connected to anything else." Hope this helps!
