Hello, Thank you for your inquiry on the GE 16.7 cu. ft. Frost-Free Upright Freezer in White model # FUF17SVRWW. The depth of FUF17 freezer without the door would be approximately 21.905” inches measured on the exterior. I hope this helps. Donna with GE!f

Customer Reviews

16.7 cu. ft. Frost Free Upright Freezer in White is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fewest defects based on reviews -More shelves than other units this size. Makes finding stuff much easier. -Far lower failure rate (according to reviews) than units made by Frigidaire (but sold under many brand names). I looked for months seeking reliability. -Seems quiet to us. -"Bookends" are great feature. Wish we could order more of them as content separators. -Temperature is consistent at about 0F according to my IR thermometer. -No under unit coils to clean. Heat is dispersed thru sides and top. Much nicer this way. -No heat dispersion from back of unit letting it be placed tight against a back wall (but sides and top need clearance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from it should have lasted longer. It's a freezer. They don't have many parts or many functions. The compressor lasted exactly 5 years. That's a pretty high annual cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! We have had this freezer for about 1 month, and are very satisfied! Upon delivery and for a few days, we noticed, as other reviewers noted, that the noise from the freezer running was quite loud. I don't know if that was just an initial problem until it assumed a regulated temperature, or if we were just keenly aware of it after having read the reviews, but we no longer notice the noise. Love the features it has (lock, temp level indicator on door, interior lighting, nicely spaced shelving, etc.) Even the lower pull-out bin is a nice feature, that I originally planned to remove, but now find very helpful for small, oddly shaped items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delivered on Time, solid value NIce looking Freezer, much louder than my GE refrigerator, door vacuum or magnetic seal hard to open with ease, cools down fast. I like the electronic controls and alarm features. Easy to level on uneven floor. Shelves are nicely spaced, however are not removable or adjustable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far We ordered this freezer to replace a working chest freezer and although we've only had it for four days we couldn't be happier. It was installed in our basement laundry room and although it is a little noisy when we're in the laundry room we can't hear it anywhere on the first floor. I put a remote thermometer on the third shelf and left the thermostat on the factory setting of 4. The freezer cooled down to -5 F in less than 4 hours. For our purposes the shelf positions were fine as it came from the factory but the top shelf can go up about 1" and the second shelf can go down about the same so there is some flexibility. With the light and shelves it's so much easier to find what we're looking for and now we don't have to worry about defrosting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT FREEZER We had a large not self defrosting freezer for 18 years. It still worked but we were tired of defrosting it and it was not keeping ice cream hard. Buying a product made in the US was important to us and learned GE was the only company making appliances in the US. We have been using our new freezer for about six months and it has performed well. It keeps everything very cold and hard. The layout of the freezer is good and the pull out drawer is a nice feature. The freezer has an outstanding seal which keeps it air tight. It is quiet compared to our prior freezer. We are extremely happy with it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is very basic. Although the temperature indicator is on the outside of the door, it is in numbers and not actural temperature degrees (i.e. 4). Additionally, when it runs it is very noisey so you know when it is running. Finally, the door hindge cannot switch side. I would reccomend with reservation for the above mention items.
