I had my GE front loader for 5.5 years and it broke. I had a repair person come out and he told me the drum is broken and would cost around $600 to repair....better off buying a brand new washing machine. For the price of this machine, I would expect more than 5 years use. I am the only person who used it and I did an average of 4-5 loads of laundry per week. Ridiculous. Also- when it did work, I didn't feel that it got my clothes very clean. I would pull things out and you could still see spots on the clothes. I recently had to go to the laundromat to do laundry while my machine is broken and my clothes come out so much cleaner. DO NOT BUY.

Washer is wonderful. The size is great and takes almost twice the load my previous Thor all in one machine.

We've only had it a month. So far it works fine. Doesn't need as much detergent to clean. Quieter than our previous machine. Better to read an older review to have a truer picture of the washer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by adorita Door lock broken after 17 months
I bought it last year in April, loved it while it last. It doesn't clean as well my old top-load washer, but it is very quiet and gentle on clothes.
It is a small washer for a family of 2 adults, we wash daily, which I prefer. I can see myself doing only 3 loads if we only wash on weekends.
The door lock broke last week, parts and labour cost $398+tax. It actually does lock, but the machine doesn't seem to understand that it is locked so it wouldn't fill the water. The repairman say, "you need to be gentle, it's a mechanical lock" but I don't see how much more gentler I can be!
Yet I'm more upset by how unhelpful the GE (Mabe) service is. I don't have extended warranty, so they refer me to 2 authorized repair shops in my area. They don't pick up their phones during office hours and only leave messages late at night, "I'm calling you back, so call me back." After exchanging dozen messages for days, gave up and called a local appliance repair shop which came within hours.
Home Depot at my area only have this model that is small enough for my needs. The salesman assured me this is the best for the size. It is why they only have this model of small washer in the store.

For a compact washer it is really nice. I was concerned about the size but I can wash full set of towels easily. Features are good, I would definitely recommend this product.

We bought the product online, sight unseen. After it was installed, it looked and worked great. We look forward to many years of service from this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Melon GE Compact washers Leave a lot to be desired
GE compact washers are obviously not built to last. I am having to purchase my 4th one in 10 years. The last two have had control panels go out and I have now waited 7 months for a new control panel. I was told by GE they were on back order and recently was told they would not be available until the end of 2016. In order to be able to rent my condo unit through the summer I am forced to just replace a 2 year old washer again. This is the first time I am finding other brands in compact washers. But I was just told if I purchase another brand of washer I have to purchase the same brand dryer in order to stack them. I am not a happy consumer right now.

I live in a loft condo and my utility closet is tiny so I was hampered by size. Not too many out there that could fit into my space. This works perfectly and I have the companion dryer on top of it. Love it! It is quiet and so far so good.
