Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by One of the CFGI's stopped working after 2 weeks Wanted to go with the what I thought was a solid product and didn't mind paying more for it. What I got was junk. How can a CFGI just stop working after two weeks. The one works and i might just live it because I really don't have time to waste un-mounting it, disconnecting it, waiting on the return line at home depot - explaining that I don't still have the receipt because after I installed it and it worked I though it would continue to work for more than two weeks. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty Outlets are weatherproof when in use Top-of-the-line GFCI 20A tamper-resistant outlets and box, for outdoor use. It comes with minimal parts. You will need some additional electrical parts and wiring. The ground wires are pre-wired only with a ground lug block. It will be easy if you are familiar with electrical wiring as the instructions are minimal. There are a limited number of wiring hole plugs on the back, but 4 of the sides have knockouts. There is no way to back wire the outlet, and there are no pigtails, so you will need to wire the side lugs in the traditional way. I upgraded an outdoor single gang electrical outlet to this double-gang (4 outlets) GFCI Outlet. It works great. Be sure to caulk and seal the back of the box, and the top and sides of the box against the wall, once installed to be sure it is water-tight. In my case, it was a freestanding box, so I had to caulk all holes/penetrations in the back of the box, as it is primarily designed to be wall-mounted. Web site needs a lot more pictures. So I provided some. December 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty I've had this outlet for about a year now and it's held up very well with no issues. It was easy to install and the metal housing protects it from the elements nicely. I used it to give myself an outside outlet on my garage which I didn't currently have. I just rant the wires from the outlet inside out to my new box. No more routing cords throughs the door. So much better. The finish has held up and no signs of rust. No issues with the electrical performance either. June 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best heavy duty outdoor power outlet. The Forest Green GE Backyard Outlet with 2-20 Amp GFCI Receptacles offers an ideal way to put power outdoors. The compact design conserves space, and the rolled edge hinged door allows cords to exit freely after plugging in the cords, and closing the lid. So it is rain free/no wet connection. The unit itself is very heavy duty and corrosion free. The Electrical features are great: GFCI Safety Circuit,Surface Mount,Tamper Resistant and Weather Resistant. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone for the need if out door power connection. March 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for adding safe power outdoors These backyard outlets come in handy when you need that extra electricity for your outdoor lights and tools. This outlet is well made, sturdy, and heavy-duty with ample knockouts for your wiring and ground fault circuit receptacles for safety. I like the mild green color that blends in well outside and that the cover closes over the receptacles and can be locked if needed. March 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good box, but not watertight First, let's set the record straight, this product in not made in the USA. It is made in Mexico as stated on the box. The GFCI outlets are made in China. The parent company of Western Electric is GE. Second, I do have some issues with the terminology used in the descriptions as "waterproof" or "weather resistant". The GFCI outlet has a label indicating it must be used n a "waterproof enclosure" with gaskets and caulking sealants. This enclosure has neither. In fact, with the cover fully lifted, any rain falling will be "funneled" inside the box and directly onto the GFCI units. That is a concern to me as it can disable a GFCI, resulting in it not protecting the circuit. The design of some other brands enclosures do not allow the cover to be lifted as far, and thus are less liable to this happening. I suggest placing a small self-adhesive rubber "foot" to the cover in a position to block fully opening it. See the attached photos. The enclosure does come with the ground wires to the outlets pre-installed, so that is good. Just remember to skip the steps in the procedure about adding them. The rest of the wiring is simple, but it is very important to correctly connect the hot wiring side to the line terminals indicated. Connecting them to the load side terminals will result in power to the outlets, but no GFCI protection. Tip: Every complaint GFCI module must provide a supplementary protection mode (Grounded-Neutral protection) that disconnects the circuit power if the load side of the neutral wire is grounded. If it is grounded, some of the leakage current through the shock victim will be routed back through the GFCI, balancing out the line leakage current that is being sensed, partly defeating its purpose. To check this function do the following once after installation. Turn on the power to the GFCIs, reset them, and short together the line neutral and load neutral terminals of each unit in turn. The unit must trip and disconnect power. If not, it is defective. If for some reason the load wiring has been done incorrectly, this can also prevent a GFCI from being reset the first time. The troubleshooting procedure does not make this clear. The push button self test does not do this test. All-in-all this enclosure is a good one if you remember to close the cover. May 7, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Multiple configurations This all weather outdoor electrical box comes with two 20 amp. GFI's. Typical multiple configuration for mounting and installation. Nice front cover that stays up when accessing receptacle but drops down covering the receptacles and leaving plenty of room for cord to drop out bottom for ease of use. March 20, 2015
