Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sally Good quality purchase
This GE refrigerator has been a great purchase. We were looking for a good quality side by side that dispensed ice and water in the door. We also wanted plenty of storage and easy access to items with compartments that would allow for this and we haven't been disappointed. When we first purchased the refrigerator we noticed a slightly different noise than our old refrigerator when the compressor kicked in but it was just adjusting to the difference over a few weeks. It runs quietly and operates smoothly. The only issue has been that the ice occasionally delivers a little too much ice in an instant when you least expect it. Just keep your cup there until you know it has stopped dispensing.

Nice looking but unfortunately it is ridiculously loud...especially for the price point. I called service out regarding noise and simply "condenser noise"

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Blonde Ok frig, has it's issues.
This frig is actually larger than my last one (same brand) but less room inside. The light dome at the top takes up space making it hard to get items in the back out, you have to pull tall items out and hold in-hand verses sliding over for clear access. Even though this frig is larger the drawers are smaller in capacity. The shelves are the same length as my old frig, however less space due to the molded shelf support runner that perturb out. Crush ice comes out with large chunks and a few whole cubes mixed in. Motor is loud in comparison to my 14 year model I replaced. Love the door design and freezer is good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hill2008 spacious - a little noisy
We've never had a side by side, let along an ice maker. We do find it a bit noisy. It startles our cat a lot when it's making ice. I think all ice makers are noisy though, at least the ones I've been around are. The fridge is beautiful. Love the gallon size door shelves and the sliding drawers in the freezer. Using the water requires some finesse. My small mouth nalgene water bottles make it so there is still pressure on the handle when the mouth is out of range, so I have to do some fancy hand moves to get it out. Other than that, we're completely satisfied so far.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by sfabes Good interior layout in both refrigerator/freezer
Purchased in May '14 and very happy with the performance. We like the size & shape of the cubes and dispenses easily from door. Ice does not overflow the inside bin. We appreciated the coldness of our products in both freezer/refrigerator and also the liked the shelving that holds cans in the door(a space saver in the refrig. We just wished the door shelves were deeper in freezer door, but it seems none of the freezers we looked at had them. Overall we are very pleased.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bw14 Avoid GE
We like the look, layout and features of the refrigerator, other than the water dispenser is really slow. Our problem was that 3-4 months after purchase, the liner in the freezer cracked (10 inches long by 1/16 inch wide). Initial contact with customer service was easy and good. Service technician came to house, seemed very knowledgeable, and said the liner couldn't be repaired and that GE would call to arrange delivery of replacement unit. After a week we had to call them, and then they said it was cosmetic damage only and wouldn't be covered under warranty. After multiple phone calls, I was unable to convince them it was a defect in materials or workmanship and not just cosmetic, though I'm not sure how a crack in the freezer liner is not a defect. It seems like the liner is there for a reason: to keep the cold in. So the refrigerator is working harder to maintain temperature, which is costing us more to run and most likely shortening the life of the refrigerator. GE’s only offer since it was "cosmetic" was that we could purchase a replacement unit for 10% of original cost or extend our warranty (which is apparently worthless) a year. So, we recommend you pick another brand.
