The refrigerator has become extremely noisy. Sounds like a fan is going bad. How do I determine this is the cause of the noise?

How much side clearance is required to open the doors to 90 degrees. Manual says only 1/8" but that may be only for the cabinet itself

Answer:
Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. In a 90 degree door opening situation (with extended wall), there is no extra space needed, since the door opens within the width of the refrigerator cabinet. If the door needs to be opened more than 90 degrees to remove the full-size pan without disassembly, then a 17" clearance is needed. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Either of these two ranges would match this refrigerator. This refrigerator has designer style stainless steel handles, and the two ranges have designer-style stainless steel handles as well. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 318 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by over all love it only thing that is driving me crazy in the plastic that they use on the doors, still trying to peel it off 1 month later anyone have any ideas how to get it off. What they do in put it on before it is put together so in is stuck inside the seals. Other then that it is a great refrigerator! August 21, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice when it works.............. I bought this refrigerator at the end of September 2014. I love it, when it works. Since then, I have had to have the circulation fan motor in the refrigerator part replaced 4 times. When it quits, the refrigerator stops working but the freezer still works. Now that I am coming off my 1 year warranty, GE wants me to buy an "extended" warranty, FAT CHANCE. I am sick and tired of this same motor/fan failing EVERY 3 months or so. A very poorly designed piece of equipment. If it happens again, I will demand replacement of this unit under the "lemon law". GE, get your stuff together and get this, continual, problem resolved. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice refrigerator. easy to clean, BIG Looks great with all the other appliances. Lots of differant funtions. Lots of space inside. Love the two ice makers. It might be a little big for the size of my kitchen. December 27, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by loving it so far Our first French door, bottom-freezer fridge. Have had it about a month, loving it so far. Capacity: The huge jump in cu. ft. from our previous traditional top-freezer is undoubtedly making me very happy. Both door bins contain all the bottles transferred from the old fridge door holder, and then some (we don't put milk jugs at the door, though). Other compartments work great, though it'll be nice to have 2 slider shelves instead of just 1. But then again, the fridge itself holds all the stuff we ever need to put into the fridge, with space to spare. Freezer pics from manufacturer don't quite do it justice -- it's not huge (though huger than the old one), but is bigger than the pics show. Enjoy the flip-out shelf at the door too (see attachment), extra storage for littler things. Mechanics: There is some background noise (it's a machine after all), but noticeable only when it's very quiet in the house; generally doesn't bother us at all. Once in a while I'd hear louder humming that comes and goes -- hope it won't become an issue down the road! Water line not yet installed so can't comment on that. Found freezer bins a little frosty at times, even though the door was closed entirely -- will continue to play with the temperature settings and see how that goes. Currently set at recommended temps. Looks/Exterior: Got the slate color, did not regret it -- so far, the only fingerprints left are on the handles, which makes a much quicker wipe-down than the whole front. All 3 sides of the fridge are magnetic (except for the handles), that means pictures, cards, and notes can all go back! Minor complaint on packaging: As another reviewer has mentioned, the protective plastic is drilled into the handles and such, leaving remnants around once the majority of the plastic is ripped out. Just have to spend extra time cleaning that up. Other than that, happy customers thus far! November 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase ever This refrigerator was the best purchase of all the item we bought during our kitchen remodeling project. It has also reduce out electric bill by $40.00 a month. August 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problems with performance AND appearance We've had problems with this unit since it arrived. We are now 6 months in and I deeply regret buying this fridge. Overlooking the common complaint about how impossible it is to remove the protective plastic wrap, we've had consistent problems with food freezing in the refrigerator- regardless of the 41 degree setting and food position within the fridge. Futher, I'm so saddened to see how easily the surface scratches. Our run-of-the-mill fridge magnets have destroyed the appearance of the front of the fridge with very visible, shallow scratches anywhere we have used magnets on the doors. Too soft a coating for the appliance or there must have been problems with the coating run. Stay away from this unit. May 30, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Decent fridge with cheap parts and poor customer service the fridge overall is decent. lots of storage and great use of compartments. BUT, with less than 6 months of owning the fridge something broke not allowing for the left door to open or close. Called GE customer service and they immediately scheduled an appointment. The day before the appointment received a call from the technician who refused to come out to see what was broken. He insisted he knew what was wrong and ordered the part. The part arrived one week later and another technician came in and discovered that there were two parts actually defective...now we have to wait yet another week to get the fridge fixed. Again, all of this could have been avoided if the first technician just did his job... January 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Fridge is quiet and everything I expected it to be. Very pleased February 25, 2015
