The refrigerator has become extremely noisy. Sounds like a fan is going bad. How do I determine this is the cause of the noise?

How much side clearance is required to open the doors to 90 degrees. Manual says only 1/8" but that may be only for the cabinet itself

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. In a 90 degree door opening situation (with extended wall), there is no extra space needed, since the door opens within the width of the refrigerator cabinet. If the door needs to be opened more than 90 degrees to remove the full-size pan without disassembly, then a 17" clearance is needed. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Either of these two ranges would match this refrigerator. This refrigerator has designer style stainless steel handles, and the two ranges have designer-style stainless steel handles as well. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Since I already have a 13 yr. old G.E. frig. with just an ice maker I assume I am already hooked up to a water line so do I need a water line kit with a new one. Also I have a r/o system and I want to know if I have to use a water filter for the icemaker or can I somehow bypass using one, but still have it make ice? If I am on vacation how do I keep it from making ice that would over flow the container? Also is the freezer going to stay frost free. What does Sabbath mode mean?

Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help.
Yes, if you have a working ice maker in your current refrigerator, then you are hooked up to a water line. If your existing water line is copper with a flared fitting at the end, you will need an adapter (available at plumbing supply stores) to connect the water line to the refrigerator or you can cut off the flared fitting with a tube cutter and then use a compression fitting.
When connecting your refrigerator to a GE Reverse Osmosis Water System, the only approved installation is with a GE RVKit. For other reverse osmosis water systems, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. If the water supply to the refrigerator is from a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Filtration System, we recommend using the refrigerator’s filter bypass plug (included with the refrigerator) to bypass the refrigerator's internal filter. Using the refrigerator’s internal filtration in conjunction with the RO water filter can result in hollow ice cubes.
When the ice maker bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, the ice maker will stop producing ice. However, you can manually turn the ice maker off by using the "Ice Maker" button on the internal control.
Yes, the freezer will stay frost free.
The Sabbath mode feature was designed for use on the Jewish Sabbath and holidays when the observants are prohibited from turning features on or off. On this refrigerator, the Sabbath mode turns off the interior lights, temperature control panel and advanced features. The compressor will run in a timed defrost when in the Sabbath mode.

26.3 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 155.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellect product so far Have only had this refrigerator for 2 weeks, but so far it has been excellent. Very quiet refrigerator except when the ice container is low and then drops ice...sort of loud, but since it has filled up it is not very noticable. Plenty of storage space in the main section. The meat/produce bins are nice as well as the deli section. The doors also have plenty of storage, but one has to manage where they place items in them, especially items used every day. One work around if possible is not to put all the trays in the doors that way you will have room to remove items easier. The door trays are very sturdy and thick compared to some of the door trays in other refrigerators we looked at. We opted to get this refrigerator without an in-door ice/water maker as many people we talked to that have refrigerators with in-door ice/water makers, stated that they have had multiple issues with them . The freezer has plenty of room and the ice maker makes plenty of ice and there is ample room in the freezer. One word of advice, if you have children you may want to think twice about getting the stainless steel. We bought the SS and it looks very nice but does leave ALOT fingerprints. Initally we were going to get this in slate, but after finding a paint sample that matched the slate and taking it home, it did not go with our cabinet colors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointed at the quality and service When this fridge works, it works nicely. However mine failed on its week 5. The fridge temperature went up to 68 F. Called the GE support, got an appointment for 3 days later. When the technician finally came to check, he found the broken fan. I thought it was an easy fix -- just replace it. No, he did not have the part. I'm in Houston, there is no stored parts in Houston area, he also checked with all the local technicians, no one has the fan. The tech told me he had to order, and we had to wait for a week for the fan to arrive. Now we will go 2 weeks without fridge. This is my first experience with GE product, and will be the last one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice fridge but VERY LOUD!! The fridge is actually quite nice from how it looked in the kitchen to the lighting and space inside the fridge. It only had one flaw ... the compressor is VERY LOUD!! The G.E. tech was out three times to try to fix it and couldn't. G.E. even engineered some sort of noise reducer for this model and was installed and made no difference. If you are sensitive to noise or have a kitchen attached to your family room you might want to avoid this model. We could even hear it over the television at moderate volume. Home Depot is being great and allowing us to pick another make/model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from loving it so far Our first French door, bottom-freezer fridge. Have had it about a month, loving it so far. Capacity: The huge jump in cu. ft. from our previous traditional top-freezer is undoubtedly making me very happy. Both door bins contain all the bottles transferred from the old fridge door holder, and then some (we don't put milk jugs at the door, though). Other compartments work great, though it'll be nice to have 2 slider shelves instead of just 1. But then again, the fridge itself holds all the stuff we ever need to put into the fridge, with space to spare. Freezer pics from manufacturer don't quite do it justice -- it's not huge (though huger than the old one), but is bigger than the pics show. Enjoy the flip-out shelf at the door too (see attachment), extra storage for littler things. Mechanics: There is some background noise (it's a machine after all), but noticeable only when it's very quiet in the house; generally doesn't bother us at all. Once in a while I'd hear louder humming that comes and goes -- hope it won't become an issue down the road! Water line not yet installed so can't comment on that. Found freezer bins a little frosty at times, even though the door was closed entirely -- will continue to play with the temperature settings and see how that goes. Currently set at recommended temps. Looks/Exterior: Got the slate color, did not regret it -- so far, the only fingerprints left are on the handles, which makes a much quicker wipe-down than the whole front. All 3 sides of the fridge are magnetic (except for the handles), that means pictures, cards, and notes can all go back! Minor complaint on packaging: As another reviewer has mentioned, the protective plastic is drilled into the handles and such, leaving remnants around once the majority of the plastic is ripped out. Just have to spend extra time cleaning that up. Other than that, happy customers thus far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice! We have only had the refridgerator a week but so far outstanding. The slate color is fantastic and I think GE has a hit with it. I have seen complaints about the noise level, so far have not experience that...also the film in the door handle area is easy to remove with a hex screw driver, its takes about 15 seconds to unscrew the door handle and remove the film...our delivery guy did it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to clean surface Easy to clean, smudge free surface and still blends well with other stainless steel appliances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this 'fridge again! I LOVE my new refrigerator. Initially I looked at it only because it had the freezer on the bottom, but I quickly liked the size and layoutt. The adjustable shelving is generous and easy to move. It looks great and works efficiently. It's nice and quiet as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! I did a lot of research on refrigerators and read many, many reviews before settling on this make and model. My house is a summer house and seasonal rental so I opted not to get the front water/ice dispenser to cut down on things that can go wrong. The refrigerator is large sized, and a nice internal layout. I chose the split doors, bottom freezer as that is what I have at my other house and wonder why people continue to chose top freezer models. This thing looks and works perfectly. I also got a great deal from Home Depot. The only negative with the stainless steel model is the handles always looks smudged. They do clean up nice with one of those stainless steel wipe clothes but be prepared to have smudged handles on it. This is especially true for me with small kids.
