Have an old Ge Unit with Microwave on top and stove on the bottom, Do you have a replacement? for both units? GE HP62v

Asked by: 425oldsmar
Hello 425oldsmar - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. We no longer manufacturer the Hi-Lo units such as yours. They have been replaced with a regular freestanding range and an over-the-range microwave. You would have many options in this regard and recommend that you check with your sales representative. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

I have a GE Model JKP78G, the microwave no longer warms (fan runs and light on but no heating). Any suggestions?

Also, are parts still available for repairs?
Asked by: Remington
Hi Remington- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear of the difficulty with your microwave and happy to help. You may want to reset the electronics by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. Check to ensure the is door closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. Make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis. If the above suggestions do not solve the problem and the microwave still won't heat, we recommend contacting service. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment on-line at If you are interested in replacement, check out our GE® 27" BUILT-IN COMBINATION MICROWAVE/OVEN JK3800DHBB. We hope this is helpful. Thanks for reaching out to us!

Customer Reviews

27 in. Electric Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave in Stainless Steel is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is terrible! We purchased this wall oven about 3 years ago, and the paint in the microwave started to chip almost immediately. Even though we purchased an extended warranty, there was no help from GE. The GE Answer Center told us it was a cosmetic issue and was not under any warranty. We had a previous microwave with a white interior and had no issues, and we would NEVER purchase anything like this again from GE. And now the ceiling of the microwave has rusted! Their extended warranty and company warranty are about as good as snow in Florida!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Has a known problem with the microwave section The microwave portion of the walloven combo failed after 13 months. The micro wave will not shut off unless the door is left open or the breaker is opened. Apparently this is not uncommon and the problem is due to internal wiring and the control board (according to GE). Estimated repair according to GE is $300. GE will not budge on the 12 month warranty. Mine failed at 13.5 months. I did some research and they are having problems with their microwaves. Things breaks but when the problem is attributed to a control board and internal wiring with 13-14 months of a GE warranty and they won't help, that is just poor product support and frankly service.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inside of microwave is peeling! Just like other reviews, the microwave walls are peeling. I've had it for 2 years...ridiculous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, could use better fit and finish Just installed this unit. My wife and I like the design and functionality. Lots of features that are actually useful, not just belles and whistles. At the same time, I noticed that the assembly work is not accurate enough, so that the side flanges do not fit parallel against the face of the cabinet, leaving tapered gaps on the sides. For the same reason, the gaps between the bottom trim and the sides are different at the two corners. I would say, the factory assembly is accurate within 1/16" (just so), but the tolerances need to be within 1/32" or better, and I am sure that's what the engineers at GE had specified. We spent a serious effort on re-finishing an old cabinet (which used to house a mid-80s GE unit of the same type) and making it plumb and level, so it was somewhat surprising that the assembly tolerances of the oven itself ended up being less accurate than the cabinet installation. Of course, I can just pull the unit back out, loosen a few screws holding the flanges, and re-adjust their position, but it's easier said than done (with mounting holes already drilled into the wood), and shouldn't be necessary. I know this is something that may only be noticeable to the installer, but hopefully is a useful observation nonetheless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Takes forever to heat up I never realized that this oven has a hidden bottom element. This takes 15 to 20 minutes to pre heat. It should come with a large warning lable -slow!!!! I might have to go purchase another oven. What a waste of time. After 2 years it is taking longer and longer to pre heat. It takes longer to pre heat than to bake biscuits - 14minutes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad experience Light switch on oven door was broke when oven arrived. Switch is cheap made but cost over $225 for part. Was under warranty but when it breaks next time I will have to pay. Oven was wider than spec. Had to re-work cabinet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Microwave broke after only 2.5 years. The microwave section broke after only 2.5 years. Unfortunately, this is a combo with the oven and they stopped manufacturing the model. Therefore you can't buy just a replacement for the microwave. It's sad to see that GE's product quality has gone down so much because their quality reputation was factored into my buying decision. It appears now that the less expensive products might also be higher quality or at the very least, a much better value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, does what it's supposed to do The oven/microwave combination unit was easy to install and works exactly as it should. The microwave's shortcut buttons make it simple to operate. The inside of both the microwave and oven are suprisingly roomy for a 27" oven.
