Answer:
Hello Joan,
I am happy to help. That is normal. Preheat time varies according to oven type. This applies to ranges and wall ovens.
If the oven is installed at its proper voltage (120 volts for gas and 240 volts for electric):
Electric Ovens with Hidden Bake Elements and Gas Ovens can take 15-20 minutes to preheat
Electric Ovens with Hidden Bake and the Fast Preheat feature can take 7-10 minutes.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 263 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase I am very happy with my new oven.It is simple to operate, looks good and is all that I expected May 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy and Simple Easy to install. Installation required little more than a screw driver and some wire nuts.No surprises. Simple operation. The keypad and digital display are easy to read and simple to operate. Good workmanship throughout. The construction is sturdy and the finish clean. The vent fan is quiet.and the interior lighting is excellent. Racks are very sturdy. Remarkably even heating. February 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good oven Like others, the worst feature is the timer. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but I continue to set it for hours instead of minutes. The one minute remaining beep on the timer is a nice feature, though. I really like that the temperature displays as the oven is pre-heating. It does take awhile to pre-heat but I think that's more because my old oven wasn't actually pre-heated when it beeped. I am having to adjust my cooking times slightly less since this oven actually is pre-heated when it says it is. The bottom hidden element is nice for cleanup. The fan is also a lot quieter than my old oven. Overall, I have been satisfied with the oven so far. May 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it should. Quite easy to install, but check the depth and the location of your existing wiring. The paperwork suggest that the wiring location can only be in the upper right hand side of the cut out. We managed due to the larger cut out depth, but it could make a difference to you. The operation is quite intuitive. The internal lighting is good and casts a lot of light into the oven. We have an independent oven thermometer and they track each other exactly. Generally, very happy with the purchase. August 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE 27 Inch Single Electric Oven The oven required no assembly and is easy to operate, even for folks who have problems with push buttons. My wife loves it! September 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Oven and Great Value Arrived just in time for holiday cooking. Installation was straightforward. Since installation, have roasted a turkey, made dressing, pecan pie, biscuits, etc., all with excellent results. Have not yet had occasion to use the broiler, but like all of the baking options and controls. Pre-heat times are a bit longer than old oven, but I believe the amperage is significantly lower in this oven than in the old one, so it is an acceptable trade-off. Fan noise is not intrusive at all. A sleek looking, well-functioning product. December 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy This is a new oven. After repeated attempts to recalibrate the oven, the circuit board (mother board?) had to be replaced after repeated calls to the service department for assistance. In talking with the repair person, I found this is not unusual. Fast forward 4-5 months, same problem, just not as extreme. Anyone who does any baking can appreciate my frustration. Setting the oven at 375 might get me 350. Also, I've noticed the finish on the inside of the oven is peeling in a corner. This is a new oven--not even 6 months old. I'm very disappointed. November 2, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied, but not perfect The oven looks great. The interior has way more room than my 20 year old 27" oven did, which is great. It appears to cook very evenly. I do agree with other reviews that I've read, the timer is silly. I didn't think it would bother me, but, why does it default to an hourly countdown? Most things I cook in the oven take an hour or less. I would much rather see it counting down minutes and seconds. That is just a tiny software adjustment. It is quite annoying, but livable. I also feel like it takes forever to preheat. I timed it, and it took 18 minutes to preheat to 400. That seems extreme. Maybe it has to do with efficiency? Again, very annoying, but livable. You just have to remember to preheat well before you want to start cooking. I've found that I need to watch the food I'm cooking, because it does cook differently than my old oven, and can quickly over cook, but I think my old oven was probably way less effective, and I had gotten used to a lot of leeway in cooking times and temps. I think this is an adjustment I would have to make no matter what I purchased. I haven't tried the steam cleaning feature yet, but I'm really excited to see if that works the way I hope it does. Overall a good purchase. January 20, 2015
