Hot Water?

GE Model # GTWN2800DWW 3.8 cu. ft. Top Load Washer in White One week old. My Hot Water setting fills at 82 degrees with the lid down. The Hot water input is at 120 degrees from the water heater at the valve to the washer. What ratio of hot to cold should the valve be providing to the washer on the HOT setting? Also, with a 120 degree input what temperature should I expect with a +/- tolerance?
Asked by: willinois
Hi willinois-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! Because of recent industry-wide changes, you'll find more mixing of hot water and cold water for Hot and Warm cycles. There is not a temperature sensor, so the overall temperature can vary depending on the incoming hot and cold water temperature, the hot or cold water pressure, lid openings, etc. Because of recent industry-wide changes, you'll find more mixing of hot water and cold water for Hot and Warm cycles. There is not a temperature sensor, so the overall temperature can vary depending on the incoming hot and cold water temperature, the hot or cold water pressure, lid openings, etc. On Hot, the hot water is mixed with some cold water and has a temperature of approximately 90-100 degrees F. On Warm it will be approximately 70-74 degrees F. This is assuming the hot water is 135F and the cold water is 60F. An incoming hot water temperature of 120F will change the overall hot water temperature, and could keep it closer to the 80-90. For safety, the washer will only fill with cold water if the lid is raised. This can also alter the overall hot water temperature if the lid is up while it is filling, since it is filling with more cold water than expected. We hope this is helpful. Enjoy!

Does this washer have a lint filter?

My old washer had a rectangle piece where all the lint would fall into & all I had to do was take the rectangle piece out and dump the lint out after each wash.
Asked by: alee
Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE model # GTWN2800DWW. Current GE washer do not have a lint filter. The fine mesh filters were removed from under the agitator when it was found that a better pump and larger holes in the hub under the agitator did a better job of removing lint and preventing clogs in the drain system. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system. Should you have additional questions, please let us know. Donna with GE

for item no. Internet # 203228624 - what is the equivalent capacity of this machine in kilos?

Asked by: Anonymous
cubic feet is a volume measurement ... how much space the clothes take up. Kilos is a weight measurement ... how much do the clothes weigh. So, I don't think there is a way to compare those two measurements. Not sure what the volume measurement would be in your system.

Can you add liquid bleach directly into the wash basket/drum instead of the dispenser?

This is how I wash my whites in my almost 15 year old Kenmore 90 series washer. I add liquid tide detergent and the bleach directly into the wash basket. Laundry comes out fine; the cloths are rinsed clean and I have had no issues with my current washer by adding the bleach this way. Since the bleach is in concentrated form, I don't use that much. Half a cup max for largest loads. Normally a quarter cup.
Asked by: Chief
Hi Chief-this is Sue from GE. We do not suggest to pour undiluted liquid bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket. For best results, we suggest to pour the liquid bleach into the bleach dispenser. The water fill dilutes liquid chlorine bleach as the washer fills for the wash cycle. If you prefer to use powdered bleach, add it into the wash basket with your detergent. Thanks for checking with us!

how long will it take to wash a load of clothes

I have a he whirlpool washer that takes sometimes between 57 to 90 minutes or more per load.I m looking for a basic traditional agitator washer that will ash at least two loads in the little time. Please reply soon need to buy washer this week. Thank you
Asked by: patricia
Will wash in less time than you expect. Only problem, water temp is held to 90 degrees, will not complete a thorough wash for greasy items in one wash due to lower temp mandated by government standards.

Which other washer replaces this model which is no longer being manufactured

I am looking for an old fashion washer: top loader with agitator and knobs. This model came recommended but is no longer being manufactured. I hate my water saving, no agitator, digital control washing machine. Thank you.

Bad customer reviews on this washer?

purchased GE GTWN2800DWW 3.9 washer Sept 2015....goes out of balance often...even on small loads...makes a terrible racket...why does not fill washer with enough water...even on extra large setting..I have read about many problems with this washer. It has been discontinued
Asked by: emfboh
Hi emfboh-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We are committed to manufacturing quality appliances for our consumers and encourage you to contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. Rest assured, the 1 year warranty protects against any initial product failures that may occur. We suggest to make sure the washer is level. Front legs are adjustable up or down an inch, rear legs are self-leveling. To set the rear self-leveling system, tip the machine forward so that the rear legs are about 4" off the floor. Then drop the washer to set the rear legs. They will automatically adjust to the level of the floor. The water levels for washers has been reduced compared to older models to comply with federal energy and water regulations. Your new washer is designed to accommodate these water levels and to wash and rinse properly with the quantity of water added for each selected cycle. This model features a dual-action agitator designed to provide better circulation and turn-over of clothes. The top half operates independent of the bottom half to help drive the clothes down into the water. Your comments and concerns are important to us. Thanks for reaching out!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from piece of junk I bought a GE washer because my last one lasted 10 years. this model is a joke. had the repairman out twice in the first year. now that it is out of warranty, it won't wash with cold water. clothes get stuck under the agitator all the time. this is a horrible machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value I had this installed a month ago and it works great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works better than built. Bought this a couple weeks ago. The wash is good. However, the back panel kind of rocks when I turn the dial. It appears to be made very cheaply. The dial does not match up with notches. I wanted an agitator type machine. I feel it cleans better than the high efficiency units.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a fan! The spin cycle doesn't do it's job. I usually have to spin again and the clothes are still pretty wet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It tears up my clothes I was hoping that purchasing a GE product would make me happy - I liked the fact that they are producing again. But, man, this machine tears up clothes! It's ruined 4 shirts and a pair of pajamas. There is no gentle cycle to speak of, and the mildest one doesn't even come close to being gentle. Anything with a string or straps will be destroyed. I could only afford this class of washer......but now I am having to replace clothes it's ruined (ever ruin a 15-y.o. girls brand new shirt??? Not a good reaction!!). BIG regrets on this purchase. I guess, though, if you only wash jeans and towels it might be okay.
