Are braided stainless hoses required?

Good afternoon i just received delivery of my new Washer and in reading the reviews i saw one that says that this machine requires stainless braided hoses. is this true? mine was delivered with new hosed but they are not braided stainless. please advise
Asked by: PAUL
Hello PAUL - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This washer does not require the use of the stainless braided hoses. We do recommend; however, that you use new inlet hoses. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Customer Reviews

3.8 cu. ft. Top Load Washer in White is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 3675.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! Complete Rebuild and STILL doesn't work! GTWN4250DWS - bought this after building or new home. Was so excited to have a nice new matching set. This washer after a few months of use could not stay balanced and was terribly loud. My husband accused me of not loading it correctly but I made sure to load it right. After 6 month it continued to get worse and started leaking. Now, over the last 2 month and multiple days off work for the appliance company to come fix it. It has been completely rebuild with all new parts. And it still doesn't work right and is now rinsing loads several times before spinning out and the extra rinse it NOT turned on! Also we had to have the water fill spray replaced because it spraying water all over the place during filling and would increase pressure with the lid up and decry pressure with the lid down...backwards???? Now I have a washer that is only 15 months old and have to go purchase a new one and it will NOT be a GE. I am so sad by this I wanted a matching set so bad and now can only afford a new washer so I will have to keep my GE dryer. Horrible appliance and will never purchase GE again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so good This Washing Machine is not what it was advertised to be. It does have a large capacity and the clothes come out pretty clean BUT...they are so wrinkled when they come out that I spend all the money saved for ENERGY STAR rating on the electricity used for my iron. Wish they had told me about that little STAR.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Destructive This is by far the worst washer machine ever. I am still having to pay on it which sucks because I need a new one. This washer has destroyed some of my sheets and a few of my clothes. The fins broke off which resulted in the shredding of items. I have had problems with the machine leaking and now it has messed up my carpet. This was the first washer that I bought brand new thinking I was making an investment but it ended up being a complete waste of money. I do NOT recommend this product to anyone. I thought the name GE was supposed to provide great quality but I was wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I am really pleased with this washer. Some of the reviews had said it was noisy and didn't get clothes clean. Others had said it tears up clothes or people were having trouble with the water level. I have not found any those to be a problem. I am very pleased with this washing machine. I mainly use the manual water setting, but have not had any problems with the pre-set options. This is a solid well built washing machine. I searched for over a month comparing washers: features, manufacturer and price. I am very pleased with this purchase! I ordered it on-line from Home Depot. Delivery was fast. Installers were courteous, fast and most professional in their manner and appearance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed after other good GE experiences The new GE washing machine we bought is on the fritz, conveniently 6 months after the warranty expired. Water loads mo longer fill to where they did last month, and despite the setting water won't come more than 25% up the drum. Agitator is burned out. What I want to know is why didn't this machine last longer than 18 months? We are a two person household, doing no more than four light loads a week. No jeans ever or heavy loads. We had previous good experience with GE before: the previous washer lasted 15 years. We specifically bought this one because it is made in the USA, a point of pride for us. GE, any suggestions? Calling a repair person would be the same as buying a new unit, which seems wasteful. Sigh :-(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT I am so happy with it. It is quiet and clothes are warm and almost dry when you take them, out. Maybe from the stainless tub instead of cheap plastic. I can do my king comforter with room to spare and even washed a very large, machine washable pet bed. The price normally was good { I checked everyplace so trust me} then it was on sale plus they had a labor day sale for another fifty off it. Delivery was right on time and the guys were couteous and helpful. You get called the day before with delivery time window and again in the a.m. the guys also called when almost here. I can't say enough good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WORST WASHER I HAVE OWNED Bought this washer a few months ago after being told I could choose a load size OR do auto sensing. Get it home, hooked up and go to do laundry and NO MATTER which load size you choose it WILL NOT fill up with water enough to wash stuff. I'm familiar with how the HE washers operate and this one is HORRIBLE. I've used other HE washers and they use more water. Why even have the MAX load of you can't really wash a MAX load?! I had a whole load of towels and if wouldn't fill more than 1/4 to 1/2 way up with water. The top of the towels never got pulled under or anything. I'm sorry, just plopping around won't clean stuff like that. I wish we'd gone with another HE washer and bypassed this piece of JUNK!!!! Go ahead and purchase it if you plan on washing 5 items at a time!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The machine has not work properly since purchase The machine has a mind of it own. Not always but every now and then it fill up with soap and cloths, then the machine shuts off. I hit the start button and it will empty without washing. I called to have it fixed last year but was told if they come and can't find a problem I would have to pay $150. As of yesterday I have someone coming to fix it because when I hit the start button it started fill and spin at the same time and I ended up with water all over the floor. I had to pull the plug to stop it.
