Customer Questions & Answers

Does this machine have any type of lint filter and a automatic fabric softener dispenser??

I am looking at buying this machine and was going through all of the questions, but found out nothing about a lint filter. I have a washing machine now that does not have one and lint gets all over the clothing. I do not have an automatic fabric softener dispenser now, and it is a pain to try to catch the rinse cycle all the time.

I hate my washer.. because it leaves white marks on my dark clothes. Regardless if they are rayon or cotton. Frustrating. I tried running them through a separate rinse cycle. I wash my clothes in order... towels, whites, colors, then dark's trying to remove some of the lint residue - I guess that is what is ruining my clothes. I use he detergent and also liquid. Everything suggested doesn't work.

I have oredered this machine to be delivered next week. I order the 2 stainless steele cords for the hot and cold water to come into the washer.

What do I need to have to drain the dirty water out of the machine when it spins?
Asked by: NOMNanna
Yes you do need to get the 2 stainless Steele cords they will bring it with your delivery, they will have everything else and set everything up for you and even give you a demo on how everything works. They did a great job with mine. Good luck I hope you like it.

Regarding Manual Override of Automatic Load Sensing...

We have had the washer for a couple of months and tried the various cycles, etc. The very specific question that I have is just how much water should be in the tub for the manual override setting of "Super"? I loaded it with a few blankets, sheets and such- certainly a FULL tub of clothes, but NOT "packed down" like I was stuffing it or anything. After the fill (about two minutes into agitation), it sounded like the machine was really "laboring" to agitate. I paused it, and the top of the blankets were pretty much "dry"... the water level was a full 8 inches from the gray rubber which surrounds the tub at the top. In a response posted 30Sept12, the GE person mentioned 16 (or 18?) gallons would be used with the highest "override" setting. Is this STILL the case, because I don't think the tub was more than 2/3 full? Please advise- it is currently still under warrantee and we need to know if a check-up service call is warranted- thanks.

We all know this is the biggest problem of all new HE machines. After spending around $2000 to buy the front load machine from Maytag, and HE top load machine from LG, both have same problems, the water level is not enough for any normal wash. We decided two years ago, to go back to "the good old day washing machine" make from GE , GTWN2800DWW. ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED.

Do this wash machine have a recall on it cause it is garbage and I hate it

Out of all the wash machine I have had this one is the worst one of all. I hate to wash clothes in it . Always stopping in the middle of the wash then it always start over. Hate it!!!
Asked by: Red
Hello Red - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are very sorry to hear that you do not like your new washing machine. This is a nice model. If your washer is stopping in the middle of the cycle and then restarting over, then we recommend to first check the installation and that both the cold and hot water are connected and turned on to the washer. Otherwise, we recommend to contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance under your warranty. I hope this helps! We're glad you asked!

Customer Reviews

3.9 DOE cu. ft. Top Load Washer in White is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 764.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great washer, when it works! We must have got a lemon. We made it through about 7 loads of laundry before it stopped spinning and agitating. We requested service under the warranty but it took three trips from a repair man to get it fixed. On the first trip he didn't have the right part, second trip he replaced the lid switch and the main board but it STILL didn't work and on the third trip he replaced the motor which got it working again. I give GE credit for standing behind their warranty but having a brand new product fail that quickly is very frustrating. Having to go to the laundromat for a month while your brand new washing machine is being repaired one piece at a time is very frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No-Nonsense, Robust, and Solid I bought this product for a number of reasons, and our whole family has been very pleased with it. Call me Old School, but I wanted a "normal" washer -- top-loading, and without the fancy computer board that beeps and talks to you. This washer is just that, only it still has some nice features -- there are lots of settings, such as one for towels and sheets; plus I like the cool water setting -- great for energy savings, and it helps the clothes last longer. Really nice washer for the money, and I feel good that is has the Home Depot name behind it.

It has been repaired for a FACTORY DEFECT leak twice. Now the push button start button doesn't work correctly. This machine is very useless. Will probably not buy another GE product. GE used to be a name brand that could be counted on, boy has it gone to the dump. And GE "helpline or warranty department" is no help at all. I wish GE would recall this product.

I bought this washer 3 years ago to replace a similar model of the same brand that had lasted 10 years. We were satisfied with the washer until a few months ago. The washer became very noisy and began leaking water from underneath. Very disappointed that this machine has had such a short life. My friend also has the same machine and is disappointed with hers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High effeceincy label is misleading Machine works well enough as washers go in general. Is certainly much quieter than previous machine. Drawbacks; manufacturer insists you put detergent in before clothing, thus you are placing clothes directly onto undiluted detergent. While the cycle seems shorter than previous machine, its efficiency claims are valid insomuch as this machine uses 1/2 as much water, therefore even though it has an extra large capacity tub, will only effectively do nearly 1/2 as many clothes. No more washing blankets, only 2 sheets at a time. have had clothes come out without even getting wet. Not sure the agitator really does what is necessary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a GREAT SIMPLE Machine My wife and I were settled on paying $$$ more for a washer with an Electronic Touchpad that had a "steam" option from another big box store. I went into HD expecting to find more of the same, this Model was on sale for $, no fancy control panel, just dials, all the wash and rinse options you could possible need, it was like an upgrade from our 16 yr old Admiral Washer. Machine is SO QUIET!!! and SUPER LARGE, washed 2 queen bedspreads and the spin cycle got them to the point they would have dried out in the sun (clotheline) very quickly. If you want a PRETTY machine...waster your money..not that this one is is a nice, quiet, inexspensive, get the job done well washer
