I have the single oven of this oven paired with an advantium speed cook oven. I am so disappointed in both of these GE products. I don't like the enamel coated racks versus the stainless steel ones. These racks get scratched when you pull and push pans across the racks. I'm afraid of this because the racks I think will start to rust. The one roll out rack is very stiff and feels so unsturdy. One of my other biggest complaints is the volume of the timer. It is so LOW even on the highest volume setting. Being hearing impaired I cannot hear this timer going off when I'm standing right in the kitchen. In my defense, my family cannot hear it when they are in my family room which is open concept next to the kitchen. I have to set the timer on the stove to alert me the oven timer is going off. Another big problem is you cannot pull the racks out. In my old oven and every oven I've ever owned, the racks slide out so you can easily load and unload the rack. In this oven, I am limited to using one rack, the only sliding one on the track, because I fear getting burnt reaching into the other racks that don't slide out. I look forward to this product breaking down so I can replace both GE products with something else. Sad because I spent alot of money on both ovens and I spent months researching this both.

I absolutely love my new GE Double Oven. After 45 years of marriage my husband blessed me with a new kitchen and appliances. Every holiday was a great concern of how I was going to bake everything and not have enough room in the oven to do it.....but not anymore! I love, love, love my new Double Oven!

Within the first month the glass on one of the doors exploded. The cooking is not even, even with convection, and it is missing some very useful features. I also HATE that whenever you open the door it beeps. Its one thing if it beeps after several minutes but it beeps immediately. Why is that any use to anyone? Also, the instructions for the special features is very poorly written.

We had this new oven installed, when an old version of it broke down. I was expecting it to be better than what we had before, considering new technology and all, but was extremely dissapointed with it. Here are a few reasons for that:1) It does not have the automatic setting for 350F when I start the oven (which is the most frequent cooking setting for ovens, the old oven had this feature and I loved it), 2) It takes much longer to warm up, 3) The convection oven cooks unevenly, which defeats the purpose of even having the convection feature, 4) The timer on the oven does not work. I really don't like this oven.

My purchase of a JT5500SFSS oven from Home Depot was problematic. This review is a summary of experience with both the oven and Home Depot support.
Purchased this three weeks prior to Thanksgiving, as my old oven died.
Oven was delivered, and upon opening, we noticed that the top door was out of alignment by roughly 3/8 of an inch. Enough that it was visually very noticeable.
I called Home Depot, and they told me that all repairs were handled through GE and (to paraphrase) they were not interested. Great. That was probably the quickest customer service handoff that I have ever had. I called GE, wrestled through their horrendous auto-attendant, and was able to find a person who could schedule a tech to take a look.
Technician came out to take a look, and told me that it could not be repaired. He called GE and told them this while he was at my house. He then told me that GE would contact me about a replacement. Again, the replacement would come from GE, not Home Depot. Aggravating. I waited a couple of days, and after not hearing from GE, I gave them a call. They told me that they had spoken with the tech and would be sending out replacement parts for my oven. (What?). A day later, a giant pile of parts show up on my doorstep.
Tech calls me back to schedule a new visit. I asked him to explain, and he said that GE told him to attempt to repair. He comes back out, swaps out parts, and the oven door is still askew. He calls up GE to give them an “I told you so” talk. He then tells me that GE will be swapping out the oven.
At this point I am getting worried, as we are in the week before T-day.
A few days pass, and I call GE to find out about my oven swap. They tell me that it will be shipped via a local transport, and that the transport will call me on Monday about deliver. This is now the Monday before Thanksgiving. They asked about the pickup of the old oven, and I told them that it was in my entry way and I had not installed it yet.
Monday comes along, and no call. I call GE back, and they tell me that they did not ship the oven, as they were unable to find an installer, and that my new projected date for delivery was the week after Thanksgiving. I’d had enough at this point. I started shopping locally and found a good “second choice” oven that was immediately available. I called Home Depot, and spoke to the manager and told him that I wanted to return the faulty oven that they sold me. Initially he said no. He said he had no use for an oven that was non-repairable. I was ready to perform a discount-tire-old-lady return of my oven by then. I kept my cool, and asked him to see what the procedure was for return. Two hours later I received a call from one of his employees who told me that the oven would be picked up.
As a side note, I spotted this particular model on a showroom floor here in Albuquerque. Interestingly, the showroom model also had the door mounted askew! I began to wonder if there was a manufacturing process defect which caused these to misalign.
I probably won’t purchase a major appliance from Home Depot again. The lack of concern they displayed was offensive. GE’s customer service is a mess too, and seeing the same issue on two ovens makes me wonder about their quality.

When remodeling our kitchen, I researched all the best appliances to buy. I did not care that they were all the same brand. After reading many reviews I decided to buy this GE double oven. I am so glad that I did. I love the sturdy racks and the convection feature on the top oven. I can not believe how cool my kitchen stays with both ovens on. The only heat seems to go in the drawer below the lower oven. I only keep pots in there so it does not matter. I told my husband that we could make that a warming drawer if needed. If you are looking for a double oven, you can't go wrong with this one.
