For the GE model JT3500SFSS stainless steel in wall double oven, what does it mean to install it with or without the pedestle ?

Asked by: jer
The oven comes with two metal rails about 2 inches tall and 23" long (just estimating) If you have an existing oven that is slightly taller, your cabinet cutout may be a little too tall. My 16 year old oven was 1 or 2 inches taller. We installed the two rails on the cabinet floor and sat the oven on top of them. The oven comes with two stainless steel trim pieces. One is only about 1/2 tall and you use it at the front bottom if you didn't utilize the rails for height. The other trim piece is about 2 inches tall (commonly shown in photos for the item) and you use it if you utilized the rails to cover them up. Each rail just needs two screws to attach it to the cabinet floor. My Lowe's store was going to charge $150 on top of the $100 install fee just to screw in the two rails and front trim piece which takes about 5 minutes.

How many racks in each oven?

I see both ovens have 6 rack positions, but the specs do not say how many actual racks are in each oven. Thank you.

We bought this oven new and did not work from day 1. we unfortunately checked, around 10 days after the original install. the product was still in warranty. called GE multiple times to resolve the issue. GE promised to replace the oven if they found any issue. the technician came for three separate visits and replaced different parts to make it work. so far he is not successful and claims the issue is with the house wiring. an independent electrician verified the wiring and proved that the power to the appliance is of the correct voltage and amps. GE still doesn't agree with their faulty appliance and does not want to replace the oven. I decided never to buy GE appliances. Poor quality appliance and poor after market service

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy Cook I bought the to replace my 2004 GE wall oven which stopped working. I'd always wanted a double oven so we went for the one. We have an awesome handyman who rebuilt the frame for the new oven. I've been cooking a lot since it was installed. I love the look and it is easy to use. My only compliant is the top oven takes too long to heat up. It takes almost 10 minutes for it to reach the desired temperature. One day I turn both ovens on at the same time. The bottom oven reached the right temperature 3 minutes faster.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Install -- Door Locked Open :( I was pleasantly surprised how well the installation went. Since our old double oven was also a GE, we were able to install the new double oven with just a little bit of electrical work (had to move the connection box up). However, once it was all installed and the doors back on, the lower oven was locked (with the door open). It took several power cycles to get the lock to finally release so we could shut the door. We haven't used it to actually bake anything yet but first impressions were mixed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Ovens Bought this double-oven late last year. Good looking, great accuracy in temperature, though the pre-heat is a bit longer than I'm used to, probably due to the lower elements being located under the oven floor. THat's not a problem as it makes clean-up a snap. I wish I could turn on the oven lights independently rather than having both ovens light up with the same switch, but that's just me. The temperature controls and timers are easy to use. The racks, of course are interchangeable from one oven to the other so you can have one for the roast in one oven and three in the other for holding. They also have an "opening" in front so you can easily pull them out and in without having to be too careful about burning you hands. There are no "Hot spots". Everything cooks evenly. All in all, a good buy.

It heats up quickly and cooks really evenly and well. It looks beautiful, and the controls are very easy to use. I cook and bake a lot and have been very happy with this oven. Some of the things other reviews said made me nervous, but I have no complaints. You can definitely hear the timer, and the oven does not beep every time you open the door. Those were two complaints from other consumers, but I have not had either of those problems. I have made cookies, and they turned out well; it bakes banana bread beautifully and makes a nice crispy pizza. My last oven would not cook things all the way through before the top would burn, but this oven bakes very evenly. Also, with my last oven you had to push the buttons so hard, but these are very easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE Ovens are the best! This oven replaced an older GE wall oven I had in a kitchen remodel. It's an excellent oven. I use it often and I love having double ovens in my kitchen. It made the best turkey we have ever enjoyed this past Thanksgiving. My model does not have convection, but I'm kind of old school so I don't miss that feature. There was a small learning curve using this new oven from my old GE. This one runs a bit on the "cooler" side, so I either bump up the temp 20 degrees or just add on to the cooking time. Knowing this, I love how the oven performs. Baked potatoes, bread, cookies - you name it, it cooks everything I've given it like a 5 star chef. I LOVE GE appliances. They may not be flashy, but they are workhorses! Every appliance I own is currently GE and I don't have any service or performance issues with any of them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good and cooks good The paperwork given to me from the builder didn't include manuals on any of my GE appliances. I have yet to figure out how to use the timer on the oven. I do like the look and how it cooks. Since the control panel is just a sticker put over the buttons it does always appear bubbled. When you open the open door when finished or during cooking the steam blast the cabinets and your face if you are not careful.
