Customer Questions & Answers

Is it a convection oven?

Asked by: Vicky
Dear Valued HomeDepot Customer, We reached out to the MFG for more information and below is their response. "Thanks for your interest! This model features TrueTemp traditional oven technology. It is not a convection oven."

If the micwave needs replacing, can it be replaced without replacing the entire unit? That is, are they wired separately?

Asked by: 1806
Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE 30 in. Electric Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave model # JTP90SPSS. The unit is all one piece and wired together. If service is needed on the microwave and for some reason cannot be repaired, the entire wall oven would need to be replaced. It is a beautiful model! Donna with GE

Are they coming out with any double ovens in the slate color?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi JC. This is Dawn with GE. We do have plans to expand the Slate product line in late 2013 and into 2014. We will be introducing refrigerators in different sizes and configurations, as well as various cooking products. There is not any specific product information available at this time about double wall ovens. I recommend checking periodically for new product updates. Thanks!

I am considering the microwave/oven combo for my new kitchen. In my 35 years in my house, I have replaced my wall ovens once but my microwave perhaps

5 times. What happens when the microwave gives out before the oven? Will the replacement be the same size?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Ina, Thank you for your interest in the GE Electric Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave model # JTP90SPSS. This is beautiful wall oven but is all an all one piece combination unit. The microwave cannot be replaced independently from the oven. Should you have additional product questions, please let us know. Donna with GE

Customer Reviews

30 in. Electric Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave in Stainless Steel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could use better control We bought this oven as a replacement for one that went out on Thanksgiving Day. It is far nicer in appearance and features than the old one. We actually use the microwave for more than heating coffee. Since the heating elements are hidden, the heat up time takes longer and if you use an oven thermometer like I do, one sees that when it chimes at 350F the oven is not there yet. We also have a problem with the temperature from 375F up. The oven starts running hotter than indicated although it is fine at 350F or below. unfortunately there is no way to adjust this without skewing the lower settings. We compensate by setting a lower temp than called for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features Bought and installed our built in microwave/oven about 2 weeks ago, The installation was simple, wired it myself, but needed my husband and grown son to help lift it in the space b/c its so heavy. Our only other issue was the unit was shorter than the one we previously had in the space and we had to find a "filler" to match. I eventually found something online in black metal to match the bottom. Havent got it in yet but am hopeful it will look great. I just assumed that all the 30" ovens were the same length, but I guess our old unit was 18 years old and perhaps made longer. This new oven has so much more room. Love every feature on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good! Just had this installed in the same place as my 15 year old Whirlpool. This new unit is about 3 inches shorter than the old one, so had to have the cabinet built up on the bottom. In addition, had to order 3 inch trim on the bottom as well. (although you can just paint the wood to match your cabinet, I chose to get a piece of stainless steel sheeting) Microwave is really good..cooks much faster than old unit. Oven is small thing is that the digital LEDs are green...while my other appliances are blue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Microwave fails- an apparent frequent issue Inside of microwave begins to peel after two years. The microwave control board is also know to fail often in less than 2 years. The repair tech found a 2007 board in my 2013 microwave as well. With a warranty its a good looking product, without the warranty its junk. If you buy the warranty get a 4 year one or pass on this GE thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and Good looking appliance I have no real issue other than that after 4 yrs of use the paint from the microwave start to peel. GE replaced the entire unit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad purchase Terrible product...heat does not vent properly and microwave paint ends up bubbling and falling off (interior). Also, GE won't install this unit if hardwired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product with excellent features This unit replaces a 28 year old model of another brand that was with the home when we purchased it. After extensive study we selected the GE combination wall oven/microwave. It arrived in excellent shape and took only about 1 hour to install. Some alteration of the existing cabinet had to be made because the new unit was not as tall as the old unit. A filler board was installed to close the open area below the unit. Operation has been simple to learn. Results have been great. A broiler pan was not included. For the price, it should have been. It has to be purchased separately. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died after 14 months.... Purchased this as an upgrade in our new house. The microwave was a bit smaller than we were used to, and the oven performance was so-so. After 14 months, the microwave died. Went to heat up a slice of pizza, pressed the 1 minute auto timer button, heard a crackle and the unit went dark. No inside light, power, clock or anything. Just a useless door stop at this point. Tried to use the oven and when I opened the door, the light went out at that moment too. Perhaps a coincidence, but I doubt it, have had poor luck with the "upgraded" GE appliances we put in the house so far......
