I bought this cooktop as a replacement. I was worried about the dimensions but it ended up fitting perfectly. It was easy to install, although I needed to go purchase an additional new gas line as it is always recommended to discard the old one. I set the cooktop in granate and it looks great! I sealed the edges with a bottle of clear silicone sealant which I highly recommend to prevent crud from getting in the cracks. Overall, I am very pleased with the cooktop and it works flawlessly. It is a breeze to clean after cooking due to the design. The burners give plenty of heat for solid quick cooking. My old unit had a downvent as well but to buy another unit with this feature was about a grand more, so I opted for the no vent as I really have not needed it anyway. The only drawback was that the web site eluded to the fact that the unit would be delivered and installed. This was not the case as they will not install it. They will deliver it to your kitchen, but that ends the process. So, I did the install myself and it did not take long at all and was kind of fun. I was lucky enough to have a gas shut off valve and plug ready to go under my island. So, overall, I am very pleased with the actual unit and it's looks and operation and believe it was a good value for the cost. I would highly recommend it.

I do a lot of pressure canning. This is the 2nd set of grates I've gone through. They bend in the middle from the weight of the canner. This is something that I find unacceptable. To me, the grates are quite flimsy. Would've liked cast iron grates and four individual ones, as opposed to two grates that stretch from front to back. Had no choice in the matter, as it was installed in the house we bought. Will not buy another GE cooktop, as most, if not all have only two grates. They would do well to make more models that have heavy duty (and 4!) grates!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ja43ke Good looking, even heat
In person this is a very attractive model. Clean lines and a simple, modern look. Installed it myself to replace a similar unit, and it was a breeze - 30 minutes tops. The cooktop provides even heat and is usable across the entire range, from 1 to 10. Set to 10, the cooktop is powerful enough to boil a large pot of water in a couple of minutes. Thought about buying the next model up with the "power" burner, but I am glad I purchased this model, which is plenty powerful for my needs. Also easy to clean.

The product may not be fancy, but it does exactly what I want. It cooks evenly and is easy to clean. My previous cooktop didn't have enough gas pressure, but this one has the pressure it's supposed to. I've owned it for 3 months so far, and it has given me no problems.

The stainless steel is hard to keep clean. ALSO - on the knob area, the GE logo has come half off and on two knobs, the numbers have worn half off also.. C'mon GE, get with it!!!

The box did not include the envelope with the directions nor users manual. So I did not know that I was also missing the metal hold downs and that I had to buy the gas installation kit. Two trips to the local home depot finally got me the parts that I needed.
The installation was another matter. This was a replacement for another GE gas cooktop over an oven which I replaced 6 months ago. So now I had to take out the old cooktop and uninstall the new oven so I could get to the electrical connection and the gas line. I got another GE product so there would be no question as to the cooktop fitting in the granite cutout. It fit like a glove. I connected the gas land electrical lines and went to reinstall the oven. That's when I found out that GE made a design change in the 3/8 in gas pipe on the cooktop. Instead of coming down at a 45 degree angle it came down at a 90 degree angle. This now made the gas pressure regulator hit the oven when installed into the opening. Now for another trip to the home depot for a 90 degree 3/8 in street elbow; uninstalling the oven; redoing the gas line plumbing and reinstalling the oven. This took 8 hours over 2 days.
Oh, yes the cooktop works great and the wife loves it!
