Must be quiet. Most refrigerators are unacceptably loud. How does this compare?

Customer Reviews

30 in. W 20 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in Black is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not your mom's GE I had an almost identical GE fridge for 15 years. It was still working, but not getting cold enough, so I replaced it with this. I have not even finished loading it, and I already am frustrated with the product. I was told not to buy a GE--they are not as good as they used to be--but in my price range, this was the only one that had most of the options I wanted. Friends recommended a side-by-side, but they cost more and all have an in-door dispenser which I can't use and wouldn't if I could. This fridge is only 1 cu smaller than my old one, but it holds far less and is not as well-designed. There is a lot of waste space in thicker door bins and shelves and the cabinet itself. It has only 5 door bins (instead of 6), the crisper drawers are too high but not deep enough, the shelf configuration is very limited. The lowest rung is only 3" above the crisper drawer shelf, but the next rung up is 8", which puts the upper shelves too high to hold milk, soda, etc.. The metal hook on the upper shelves are so high that they have to go at least 2 rungs above the lower shelf. If I put the tall things in the door, then I have to put a lot of little things on the shelves. I thought the point of the door bins was to hold all those little things, because they get shoved to the back of a shelf where you can't see them . Fortunately, I kept the snack drawer from my old fridge and put a lot of the little things in there. Both the door bins and shelves are very difficult to move, with the door bins getting stuck when you try to take them out or put them in. And like the shelves, they don't adjust to the heights I need, but while the shelves are too close, the bins have a lot of waste space between. The most frustrating thing is that I spent $250 more than I wanted to on this fridge because I wanted the features and I thought I would be unhappy with the lower-priced fridges. Oh, and one more thing: I was told it would cool down in 2 hours. I left food out so I wouldn't have the doors open and it could cool. But it is now almost 5 hours later and the fridge is still far too warm to move dairy products into, so they are in my patio fridge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Perfect Granted my last refrigerator lasted me close to 20 years. This one is the closest to size constraints I have so I purchased it to go with my GE stove. I have lost a tremendous amount of space inside, I am not crazy about the extra wide door storage, everything you read says DON'T put your milk or creamer there, it does not stay cold enough. The crispers are smaller and the thing is just noisy. It actually growls, I growl back! Had it just two weeks now, still trying to adjust to it. I just feel I could have spent $500 instead of $900 and gotten the same space and quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do Not Like This Product don't like the upfront controls. Keep hitting them. Also cover on light will fall off if you touch it and very hard to put back on. If I put milk containers on door it slams shut because of weight. If I adjust shelve to put them there then I have less space. Sorry I bought this. Only picked this one as it was one that would fit slot it had to fit in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great product I was surprised how light this refrigerator was when taking it up porch steps and into the kitchen. I travel considerably and many hotels have this refrigerator, which is a reason that I chose it. It is roomy, deeper than my previous refrigerator and overall is well-designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fridge for the price I got this fridge a couple months ago after our fridge quit cooling. We had home warranty program and was given specific fridge model but was too large for our location. We were given specific amount to spend on a like model. This fridge is noisy but not any more than our old fridge and nothing that is annoying. For the price, it is fine. It keeps food cold. Our only complaint is the placemat of shelves. If we have all the shelves in the fridge, it is not tall enough to put milk or tea pitcher on the shelf. I don't like to put milk in the door as to they say it spoils faster. Although if you like that, there's perfect spot in the door for milk. We had to take one shelf out and readjust the spacing to allow enough room for the milk and tea containers. Although we sometimes put the tea pitcher in the door shelf. The shelves are very sturdy and hold all our essentials. Our old fridge shelves fell off a lot b/c of the weight. Not this fridge. Overall, it is a great budget fridge. We got it in black and looks very sharp. The shelving could use some renovating to allow for taller items. Door shelves are very sturdy and roomy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inadequate interior Am terribly disappointed with this refrigerator. Bought it to replace a very similar model which I happened to like very much. This model's interior was very poorly designed. Plastic tray parts are clunky and offer very little storage room. Shelves too are poorly designed. Had to discard one 1/2 shelf so that tall items like a pitcher could fit. On the side with the cold cuts tray you cannot fit much on the shelf above or below the tray because of limited clearance. Also the light fixture gets in the way of placing items in and out. Another thing I don't like is that its noisy - even with the thick insulated sides!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Temperature Fluctuates This refrigerator has been nothing but an ongoing problem and a huge disappointment. There is only one control for the refrigerator and freezer combined. When you get the freezer cold enough the refrigerator freezes, if you adjust the control to warm up the refrigerator the freezer gets too warm and won't make ice or keep things frozen. The temperature control is so sensitive you barely touch it and it fluctuates from one extreme to the other. We have had repairmen service the unit over 5 times and are now requesting a replacement of a different model.
